Back in 1989, two guys from Melbourne, Australia by the names of Darrell and Manch set off on an adventure to the other side of the world. They travelled to Africa and without air conditioning on their modified truck, they filled it with supplies, some beer, a bunch of aviator sunglasses, and...

- David· September 14th, 2024This is a good tour if you want to learn about different parts of southern American history. Some days you’re always going to be on the move and some days you’ll only spend half the day on a tour. It’s a good trip. Also if you want to check out different cities down south where you might want to visit again or perhaps move to one day.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi David, thank you for the wonderful idea you've provided readers with. - Barbara· April 13th, 2024We were fortunate to have Claire Kredens as our driver guide. She is a gifted leader and could cope with ant situation. Such a tour is useful to learn which cities you might like to re-visit because our time in each is very short. Four and five hour drives every other day is exhausting and maybe the number of places visited could be edited downward. On the whole, I enjoyed the trip altho the age range 15-99 is unwise. 15-80 would be much more realistic.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Barbara! Thank you for your review! I'm glad to hear you had a good time and learned lots on your trip with Claire! We appreciate your feedback, we'll ensure that gets passed along to our team! All the best, Intrepid Travel :)Trip date: March 2024
- Kat· May 24th, 2022This Intrepid tour was exceptional, in terms of presenting us with a pretty full picture of life in the modern South, as well as its past history. Our only complaint was that Nashville didn't really fit. Although we enjoyed seeing it, we did not enjoy two long days driving, less time in Charleston, and practically zero time in Asheville just to get there. This tour would be so much more cohesive if it started or ended in New Orleans, which fits much better in terms of colonial history. Intrepid's commitment to sustainability and eco-responsible travel was much appreciated, as was it's sensitivity to the full history--not just the romanticized history--of the American south. Definitely would recommend this tour.Show moreIntrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Kat - Thank you for your taking the time to share you experience. We delighted to read that you had such a great time with us on the Georgia History trail and that your leader provided you and the group with such knowledge and history in the trip. We...
