- SKShaun· October 25th, 2024A very shaky start in Rome where we were left in Vatican and told to make our own way back to hotel which was a long way out. Almost no useful information about Rome from tour guides. Our new tour guide from Florence, Alessandra was excellent and the trip really improved from that point onwards. The tour company really needs to improve the experience in Rome, that leg was very disappointingShow moreEuropamundo commented on this reviewThanks for sharing your thoughts with us, we really appreciate hearing from our guests. - DBDale· September 29th, 2024This was a good , fast paced tour. It covered many of the highlights. We were picked up at the airport and taken to our first hotel. It is wonderful if you have a laidback personality because it is difficult to stay on schedule. People often didn’t return from “free time” when they were supposed to, so there was a lot of waiting and sometimes people got left behind (to meet up with us later). The hotels were great, definitely 4 star as indicated. The breakfasts offered a lot of options and got better as we moved from city to city. For the first part of our trip our guide changed everyday. After that we had the same guide. All of our guides were very good, thank you Juanmo, Raid and Esther. Our city guides in Rome and Florence were amazing and provided a lot of background information and history to the spots we were seeing, thank you Marco and Emilio. Definitely a lot of walking, we easily covered 15K to 25K each day. This tour is a great way to see many of the famous sights. It also offered some free time to explore on your own and to sample the local specialties. At the beginning of the tour messaging was not great. The signage in the lobby was vague and hand written, we only found our tour by the dates. There are many tours operating out of the hotels at the same time so it was not easy to find our guide. Other tour companies had lanyards for their guides so that they could be easily identified. Europamondo is a Spanish tour company and it definitely caters to the Spanish speakers but we did have an English speaking guide all of the way as promised. Overall it was a very good experience and I would recommend this tour, a tour is what you make it!Show moreEuropamundo commented on this reviewThank you so much for your wonderful feedback! - Michelle· July 31st, 2024It would have been nice to know before the tour, that it was going to be multi-lingual and the non-Spanish speaking travelers were treated differently. The Spanish speaking travelers were given preferential treatment and many of them had the attitude to match. The English speaking tour guide in Florence was great and very knowledgeable but 6 hours in Florence was way too long. The hotel in Florence was horrible and the wall in my room was dirty. The walls were quite thin and had to have white noise going in order to get to sleep. The tour to Cinque Terre and Portofino were beautiful. I wouldn't recommend going to Genoa because the city was full of graffiti and dirty. There was graffiti of "Tourists go home" as well as mentioning arms trafficking from the port of Genoa. The first guide from the tour company didn't speak English very well and it was difficult to hear what he was saying during the bus ride and it didn't help that the non-English speaking people on the tour were being loud which made it difficult to hear.Show moreEuropamundo commented on this reviewDear Michelle, Thank you for bringing your feedback to our attention. - LALee· June 24th, 2024Review of this Discover Italy Tour with Europamundo, June 7-13, 2024 The tour was a chaotic disaster from pre-planning to end. We were herded around like human cattle from place to place and stressed to rush back to meet the bus for fear it would leave without us. From Rome, the tour started late as it took 30 min to pass out earbuds in 2 languages. Preference was given to Spanish-speaking members with minimal translation in English. Once at the Vatican, it was announced that we would be on our own to get back to the hotel or to Trastevere for the restaurant transfer portion. We waited around in the hot sun from 11-12:30 to get walked in a humongous crowd to the Vatican Art museum for our pre-arranged tour which was changed to audio set guided. Once we walked around the Vatican wall in crowds, the time there was like being in a maze with so many tourists. On Day 3 ,we went to Florence and got a call at 7:30 am that we missed the meeting and were to come to the bus immediately. I had checked the itinerary several times, and it stated 8 am. Given the prior day ran half an hour late, I knew we would have to re-ascertain each day's agenda by asking the stressed guides who smoked during the breaks. In Florence again earbuds were passed out, and 2 of ours did not work. We were on a crowded overpass with swarming tourists. The bilingual city guide spoke only Spanish and the bus guide was irritated when I told her after it started that the ear sets were defective as I should have checked them. In my opinion, they should check them themselves. I was most concerned about pickpockets and did not want to do the checking in the crowd of over 1,000 tourists plus on the busy Florentine street. Again, we were left to do our own exploring suddenly and then had to walk 20 min to meet the bus about 5 hours later. Day 5 was the icing on the cake. We got a new guide (they kept changing them) and were were headed to Pisa. Once there, we took a smaller train to the monument and were given about an hour and 15 min to see the whole area plus get back to the train stop. Again, tourists were pouring in and it was a stressful rush. I also found out the 2 featured areas, the cathedral and baptistery were closed so I was unable to use the prearranged tickets. When I asked company to refund they refused. The next set of events was the worst part. We took the bus to Sesti Levanti to take a train to Monterosso. Again, we were given little time to prepare or use bathrooms. We got to tour the city a bit and then coming back, we as a group were told to catch the next train back to the bus in Sesti Levanti. When the train came, 200+ tourists swarmed the full train. The door area was full and my son got his hand caught in the door when it shut. We were both pushed and shoved. My spouse got separated from us and went to the other door to get on in the crowd. Then, I got trampled more as people were trying to get off. The guide made her way on and told me this is the Italian way. I told her pushing and shoving to get on an overly full train to avoid being left behind by the Europamundo bus was surely not the "Italian way." Once we finally got to the bus point, our group members needed a bathroom break and the only point was a bar where the owner charged 1 Euro for a very dirty pot to urinate with no seat. Others on my tour told me to tell her to wait for them. When I saw her, she reprimanded me and told me she deserved respect. I told her not to diminish my paining foot as it got stepped on 5 times and I was shoved due to the crowd. I crept onto the bus to get some relief from standing and walking for 5 hours. Once we departed we got to Genova and were left in a dangerous part of the city known for pickpockets, drug deals and human trafficking. To say the least, we were not surprised to see spray painted in grafitti on the wall near a gelato shop, "Tourist go home." Once the transfer to the new hotel occurred, we were greeted with cigarette smoke and a toilet that did not work. Day 6 was more of the same. We were supposed to take a ferry to Portofino, but it was cancelled. Since she was very disorganized, it took a while to figure out how to deal with the line to get bus tickets from Sta Margherita in the group where all were left alone to figure it out. Once we decided to buy tickets, the bus came and it was overcrowded again. A woman kept pushing me with her hand carry item and her friend yelled at me as my son and spouse were hanging on for life in the bus doorway where 60 people were on a small bus made for 25 people max. Once there, the restroom for the public needed cash to go and we begged the man twice to let us use it as we had credit card only. The last part (once we got back on the bus) was in Milan. Because of what had happened in Pisa, I told the guide we had passes at 5:30 to see the Gothic church. We got there in time and were near the Sforza Castle; we were told it was a 10 min walk to the church. It was more like a 25 min walk. Once there, we did get to see the cathedral, but it downpoured rain while we were viewing the terrace. Our concern was getting back to the bus by 6:30 without taking a bath in the storm. We also needed to have dinner. So, we left the cathedral, and started the 25 min trek back with a detour to McDonalds to get food. As we ran back to the bus the rain worsened and we got on drenched. We made it to the hotel. At that point, a strange Asian man noticed me as I got my key to head to the room with my soaked family. He said, "My wife said she had an experience with you on the bus." He was referring to the woman who kept knocking me with her body and carryon on the crowded bus to Portofino. I nearly wanted to call security because he had a sick smile on his face. I left the spot quickly to avoid any targeting and jumped on the elevator to get to the room with my wet family. When I complained to Tour Radar, I was told the guide said rude remarks. She also said I talked to the hotel staff when she already stated the plans. I thought this was rude as each hotel had an issue, one had a broken refrigerator and air con and only 2 towels for 3 people . The Milan hotel also had a broken air con system and the staff kept hanging up the phone as I could not open the windows. Another smelled like cigarette smoke and the toilet did not operate. In all, we will not do another tour with this company ever. They are very unprofessional, unconcerned with safety of the passengers, disorganized, and do not follow through to ensure the daily plans are clarified in advance. In fact, several times prior to the departure, I contacted TourRadar to address my questions about the itinerary and someone named Ale kept pasting in the one that was already given and never answered my questions with precision. I wasn't sure if it was a translation issue or if they simply just want to run the passenger around as they never have any answers. Overall, my rating is 0 (zero) stars. Very poorly run company with stressed out guides. There was no concern whatsoever about our satisfaction or safety. When I asked for a refund of 30 euros for my unused Pisa tickets, they refused and assumed no responsibility for their lack of adherence to the published itinerary. We spent about 3200 euros ($3,100 American dollars), a small fortune. They profited from our trust in them and did a poor job overall.Show moreEuropamundo commented on this reviewHi Lee, We apologize for the discomfort and injuries you and your family experienced on the train from Monterosso.
