- KJKevin· May 31st, 2022Organization and guide and itinerary great. Weather did not cooperate - perhaps understandable given the calendar.Intrepid Travel commented on this reviewHi Kevin - thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your time with us in Costa Rica. We are delighted to hear that despite the weather you still had a great time. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure with us in the near future.Trip date: April 2022
- ADominique S· September 18th, 2019In comparison to other small travel groups, I don't think this trip measured up to the ""Comfort"" level accommodations that I paid for. While I understand that things like air conditioning aren't readily available in some rural areas and that critters will get in your cabin, I would expect that hotels would provide shampoo and soap at least and that they have enough mosquito netting on hand for every bed they have available (both were lacking at Casa Drake in Corcovado). I also did not like how remote some of the accommodations are from major attractions (i.e. Casa Drake and Tabulia Tree in Quepos). We are already paying at the highest tier, I did not appreciate having to pay $1 USD to get anywhere worth seeing. I also paid for single supplement specifically so that I can have my own private bathroom and this was not honoured in Casa Drake. I had mentioned to my group leader that the lock to my bathroom was broken and nothing was done about it. My bathroom was used by other lodgers on the premise who were dining at the kitchen and we've had unfortunate incidents of people going into the bathroom while I was in there.Show moreTrip date: April 2019

- AChristopher S· September 18th, 2019The trip was amazing and well run. All the locations were really interesting and gave a beautiful glimpse into the nature and people of Costa Rica.Trip date: March 2019
- ARebecca R· September 18th, 2019I had a fantastic trip. Bryan worked so hard to make sure everyone had the best trip possible.Trip date: March 2019
- ABryan W· September 18th, 2019I was very satisfied with the trip, but I understand there were some last minute changes that weren't communicated, and fell short of what should have been a level of comfort that would normally have been expected.Trip date: March 2019
- ACheryl N· September 18th, 2019Accommodations were not as described. They were not what Intrepid describes as ""comfort"" level and the depart times each morning were 1 1/2 to 3 hours earlier that stated on the website and on the itinerary.Trip date: March 2019
- AStephen K· September 18th, 2019Had a great time. Not perfect. But a great way to see Costa Rica and, in my case, travelling alone.Trip date: January 2019
- Larushka· May 3rd, 2019First the standard of accommodation and included meals/excursions was not what I would expect on a comfort tour of this price. Secondly, whilst I was on time on the first day the guide left San Jose without me. The hotel staff and I were all really shocked and have never experienced this before. They phoned her office immediately to ask her to return. It took her an hour to come back, even though she was contacted 5 mins after they’d left. The guide when she returned also immediately blamed me, which was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. The itinerary was very different, with daily starts between 0530 and 0700, meaning we couldn’t enjoy the evening. The accommodation was below standard in Corcovado, which was supposedly rectified by upgrading us to another hotel in Manuel Antonio - even though the hotel Faro that we were supposed to be staying in was a great hotel and near the National Park/beach. The one we stayed in was at the edge of town and I could see no difference in amenities or grade. We were also a long way from the town in Corcovado, which was frustrating as it was a fun/social town. The guides attitude was also dismissive, argumentative and quite controlling at times. I’m used to much more flexible, open and supportive guides on similar tours. She was also inconsistent and the tour didn’t seem well organised (I know this is a new tour). There was also a minor incident where she forgot an evening meal was included - this resulted in a facade of complicated solutions, when Intrepid should have just returned our money or paid for another meal. This was finally the solution, but the”night of the meal” kept changing. Twice we had buses that either couldn’t get up steep hills or broke down. Both were frightening situations. If this is a new tour with teething problems, then it should have been advertised with an introductory price.Show moreTrip date: April 2019
