  Overall it was excellent because of the spectacular scenery and our fabulous guide Max. We also stayed in good places and Max made us great meals. Unfortunately the rest of our group only spoke French so the experience was diminished because of this. Max did his best to compensate and include us - but it was still awkward and disappointing at times. 7 days is a long time not being able to converse with your group members - particularly at meal times. Shame.

  The details could have been better. The starting point ‘alpine cafe’ the notes said your hotel will give you directions, the hotel and driver didn’t know and there are multiple ‘alpine cafes’ also I was told under no circumstances could I wear below the ankle boots yet half the group was. And half the group was told we needed to store our gear at our hotels and half had it brought by van to the end point. That would have saved us some time if we knew our bags could be brought to us.

  The tour route is good but there is room for improvement for accommodation and food arrangements, particularly the breakfast.

  The choice of accommodation was good. Our group always stayed in the same sleeping quarters and did not mix with the other groups; this arrangement felt more secure due to Covid-19 restrictions. Fred our French guide did an outstanding job in trying to secure the safety of the group, he allowed for several pauses in order to make sure that the ones that fall back would keep up with the pace.The level of difficulty on TMB is DIFFICULT ++ so a good degree of preparation is expected. I did personally encounter alot of altitude problems as l live by the sea level - so be prepared ! Fred was a good listener and very attentive, for example: he always avoided/included certain incredients which we pointed out for our delightful picnic lunches, which included very healty salads/meats/fish/fruit/chocolate/biscuits and an excellent choice of French cheese. Tacchine the mule (not the turkey) is loved and well cared for; she/it walks sporadically and Fred had no easy task in trying to convince the mule to move forward. I did encounter a little mishap as l was the only English speaking person in an all-French speaking group but here again... Fred did save the day and he did put in alot of effort in trying to resolve this issue. All in all: this was an amazing experience and l found Tour radar very helpful troughout the whole booking process.

  Sebastien was a fantastic guide with a quiet dry sense of humour. I loved his relationship with our mule who was well cared for. All the hikers carried part of the lunchtime picnic in our rucksacks to share together. The food was wholesome and I enjoyed it all. Eating cheese, bread and lovely meats looking at such glorious scenery is hard to beat. We were lucky that we had great weather. I would not hesitate to recommend this guided tour to anyone who has a reasonable level of fitness. Some of the hikes to the top took well over two hours. By the end of the week our tour group of strangers had become good friends sharing dormitories, limited toilet and shower facilities and now photos of a wonderful week together.

  A good tour through pretty scenery, but a bit disappointing compared to the spectacular mountains in the Dolomites

  Hi Alan, Thanks for your review. I actually did this tour last week instead of the Dolomites. I was blown away the how stunning the Alps are. The tour is great fun and a good challenge. Glad that I still have the Dolomites to explore!

  Fab trip with excellent people - the route was slightly more challenging than described but was still enjoyable! Julien our guide was excellent with amazing knowledge of the area with a real passion for his job. Travelling in a group was the best way to experience this tour!

  Excellent tour that was supplemented by a varied group of hikers who got on well. Great option if you only have a week as it doesn't do the full route. A couple of bus legs.
