Excellent tour. A very fast-paced tour and a great way to see a lot of Europe in a short space of time. Brandon was an excellent tour guide and made life very easy allowing the group to make the most of our time in the destinations visited. Hotels were of very high quality and the tour was excellent value for money overall.

This tour is a full 26 days round trip from London, which drops people off in Rome at 13 days. The entire trip is done in a tour bus and we stayed in hotels 1 or 2 nights at a time (3 nights in Rome). This is a good and easy way to see a lot of Europe if you don't want to stay in any particular city for more than a day or two and don't want to bother with transfers from/to airports/train stations/hotels. However, the bus is not the most comfortable (seats are hard, no USB connectors, and no WIFI), hotels for the most part are horrible and averaging about 45 minutes away via metro from city centers. The hotel in Berlin was a 1 star hostel at best, with no a/c, cramped, and uncomfortable. The hotel in Rome was so far away from the city that we needed to take walk to take a bus, then take metro to reach the city. Again, no a/c in 40+ degree (C) weather. The guide was not fully into the trip and seemed bored and tired even though she mentioned she was new to the company. Overall the tour is OK for someone wanting to see as much of Europe and doesn't mind being uncomfortable.

some of the accommodation was acceptable, some wasn't. Either very small and accommodation to far out from any attractions. A lot of animosity of other passengers toward others, as one passenger and her partner had seats on their own though out the trip and same couple drinking alcohol on the bus even with them pushing in to take other seats even though a rotation was meant to occur. The guide just over looked this. Been told different thing that that where to happen and didn't by the tour leader. Toilet on the bus not operationally a lot of the time and with no water, Toilet dumped while passengers on the bus, with the smell going thought-out and one passenger vomiting . I thought the tips were included in the price of the tour, as stated on the tour information, but the guide leader requested tips for him and the driver. Disappointed i must say of the tour.

I would light my money on fire before taking another Expat tour! I left my 13 day tour on day 4. I could write five pages of why NOT to do Expat tour but will mention only a few of the "lowlights" as there were NO "highlights"! Tour "leader" Leisha, is just that. Drug our group of 51 people around to the most crowded busiest time of day sights. And advised us we had x number of minutes ( sometimes as little as 30 to 40) to look around. I would be lucky to use the loo, buy some water and MAYBE take a few pictures, or I could forgo food for shopping. They will "leave you behind" if you don't get back to the bus at the exact minute, unless you are "special" to the tour LEADER Our first stop they waited over 20 minutes for two people making us miss our reserved chunnel time and putting everythng behind schedule. In other words cutting our stops that were short even shorter! The most unbelievable and unexpected news was that we could NOT use the toilet on the bus unless it was an absolute emergency. And then no number two allowed. After 4 days of riding around on a bus for up to 11 hours a day, with one stop almost 6 hours apart I got tired of eating crappy expensive truck stop food, buying water and paying a fortune to use the loo. I never saw the tour LEADER or bus driver in those lines at the loo. Makes me wonder where they went!......i use the word LEADER as nothing more than someone who takes up the best two seats in the front of the tour bus, (easier ride for her not sitting in her designated jump seat) and reading stupid information over the loudspeaker for hours on end.... Uh I know about WWII. I am not in middle school. Hello! And at a deafing loud volume. If she wasn't babbling in the mike, she played loud music that my teenagers listen to. Awful. I think I took over 30 tylenol in 4 of the most tortuous days of my life. When i left the tour on the 4th day, ( good thng as they didnt have enough luggage space and complained about it and started threatening to leave sone behind!) i flew down to my sons place who resides in Italy. He took one look at me and we went to the hospital. Dr said four days of not enogh water, poor eating and not peeing enough, combned with my hgh cholesteral and hormone pills had stressed my kidneys. By the way, water is SOLD on the bus for 1 Euro per bottle. Considering I saw the bus driver buying a couple cases one day at an average of .25 a bottle! Then you can pay to pee it out too! Also no hot, or "smelly" food allowed on the bus. Is there food that doesn't smell??? We were told not to recline our seat, its rude to the person behind you. The cheapest worst airlne coach seat is more comfortable and has more room than their bus seats. And dont close the curtain even though you are broilng in the hot sun as the police for some reason will pull them over and "check" them. Hmmm. Problems before with the police??? And a last note about the rooms.... My 'roomate" was obnoxious and drank a bottle of whiskey every night in our room. She also took up every available inch with her stuff she could. As a result my suitcase was always on the floor by the door. The hotels are FAR out. To go into town you must take transportation. $$, average price for the rooms we had was 49. On booking .com. I'm sure they got a much better deal with 50 plus people. My advice, buy good tour book. Decde what is important for you to see. Book your hotels near your desired attractions and buy tickets online when you get to your hotel , and spring for the few extra dollas for the skip the line and small guided tour of the attraction ( 10 to 12 people) and use all day bus passes or the trains. And you CAN use the loo on the trains, and they have really good food, comfortable seats and you can walk around and strech your legs. Thats what I did to salvage my visit after i had hydrated up and eaten some decent food. This tour company must be making a FORTUNE. I stayed at nicer places, shopped all i wanted, and ate some truly awesome food for a little less than what they were chargng per day! Thinking of starting a travel company myself Happy Travels and Good Luck with EXPAT!

What our customers ask about this tour

The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.
    • Are international flights included in the tour price?

Whilst internal flights are covered for certain itineraries, you will have to make your way to the meeting point for the start of your tour. When booking flights be mindful of departure times and possible delays.
Tip: We suggest that you start comparing prices the moment your deposit is paid to avoid costly flights.

    • Are young children allowed?

We have a set minimum age of 10 for our tours, but we're happy to consider younger children on a case-by-case basis. Just let us know your request, and we'll do our best to accommodate it. Expat Explore reserves the right to accept or decline the request at our discretion. We want to ensure everyone has a great time exploring with us!

    • Can you cater for my dietary requirements?

We make every effort to include local cuisine on our tours to ensure an authentic experience for you. You'll receive an email before the tour begins, where we'll ask for your dietary preferences. We always have a vegetarian option, and we'll work hard to accommodate any other dietary needs or preferences you may have.

    • Do I need to exchange cash before I leave?

Contactless payment is widely accepted across Europe – it’s best to bring a payment card with no overseas withdrawal fees.
      * Keep in mind that certain optionals are payable in cash to your tour leader whilst on tour. We suggest that you talk to your Tour Leader about when & where to draw cash to pay for the optional excursions.

    • If I wish to stay longer in the start or end destination, will Expat Explore assist with pre/post-tour accommodation?

While Expat Explore cannot assist with booking pre or post-tour accommodation, we recommend Booking.com for affordable accommodation options prior to and after the tour. If hotel information is available, we can provide you with the details in advance so that you can book accommodation at or nearby the start hotel. Please request this by sending a message through on the conversation page.

    • Can Expat Explore issue me with a visa?

While Expat Explore endeavours to stay current on all major entry requirements, we are not a registered visa agent. We are, however, able to make things a little easier by providing you with the required supporting documents for a visa application once your tour is paid in full. It is a requirement of the embassies that tours are paid for in full before visa support documentation is requested and applications are made. When you have made the final payment for your booking, simply reach out to our Customer Support Team to request your visa support documents and confirm which embassy you will be applying to.

    • How much spending money do I need for my holiday?

This is up to you and will vary depending on how much you wish to spend on snacks, drinks, souvenirs etc. We do not include entrance fees to attractions and museums. We do, however, provide you with free time to see everything you want, and our tour leaders will have all the information on pricing and locations so you can manage your own budget. Please refer to your tour-specific pre-departure information and optional excursions guide for further details.

    • Is travel insurance compulsory?

It's your responsibility to arrange sufficient travel insurance for your trip. When you travel with Expat Explore, both you and your personal belongings do so at your own risk. A comprehensive insurance policy should cover medical expenses for illness or accidents before or during the holiday, as well as reimbursement for lost holiday funds due to cancellation, curtailment, or other insurable events. Make sure there are no exclusions that would limit coverage for the activities included in your tour.

We generally recommend WorldNomads because they cover a wide variety of nationalities, but you are welcome to use any supplier that offers you the most comprehensive plan.

You are able to obtain travel insurance through one of TourRadars partners, XCover. Please reach out to receive a quote.

    • How fit do I need to be to join and what is the average age range?

We embrace travelers of all ages and backgrounds, prioritizing attitude and mindset over age restrictions. However, our tours are fast-paced and jam-packed with experiences. Regrettably, individuals with mobility limitations or those using wheelchairs may find this tour challenging. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for exploring quaint towns and navigating cobblestone streets. We want every traveler to fully enjoy their journey, so we encourage reviewing the itinerary carefully before making your booking decision.

    • If I book a tour for two or more people, will we share the same room?

When you book for more than one person, we will by default group you together in the same room(s), unless you request single supplements or specifically request us not to.

If there are unequal numbers (3, 5, 7 etc.) then the remaining traveller will be roomed with another passenger of the same gender, unless you opt to add a single supplement (subject to availability) to your booking. Please note that minors under the age of 18 cannot share with another traveller outside of your group's booking.

If you are making separate bookings and would like to share the same room(s), please send us an email with the booking references for each of the travellers and the details of your preferred rooming allocation.

Can’t find the answer to your question?
Reach out to the experts at Expat Explore Travel with your enquiry, they usually respond within 8 hours.
