  Amazing tour!!!! The tour leader was one of the most fun leaders I have seen. She had so much energy and warmness. Many of the destinations on this tour were not the typical tourist type places, but that was refreshing. I especially enjoyed Sarajevo. In fact the whole tour was worth it because of this unexpected beautiful city. I would love to have spent more time there. Kotor was also especially beautiful! I highly recommend a hike to the mountains for a view over the town and a swim in the lake. If you decide to visit these countries I strongly recommend researching about the history before hand. A small group of people on the day trip in Sarajevo did not listen to the guide and missed out through not understanding the places visited. I felt bad for the guide as he did an amazing job to explain the difficult very recent history of the country. I read the book ‘The Cellist of Sarajevo’ before I visited, which helped add more context to my historical knowledge of the region.

  Fantastic group. Competent, friendly, organised trip manager. Good local guides. Mostly ok hotels. Interesting history and great sight seeing.

  The trips are well organised, leaders have always been very knowledgable/helpful and always make the trip as fun as possible too. Trips are always perfect if you are limited to time as you get to see a lot in a short space of time.

  A large part of it was the fantastic guide, Meike, and we had a good group who got on well together. Aside from those subjective things, I felt like although the trip was quite fast-paced, we were able to spend a good amount of time in each city and it was a very well organized trip. The accommodation was good, especially considering it was one of the basic tours, and the transportation was great, despite some long travel days.

  Overall the tripwas very good. The weather was poor - not your fault. The local guides we had were excellent . They are one of the reasons I recommend Intrepid. Our itinerary was supposed to include two legs of rail travel. Instead, all legs were by mini bus - 15 people crammed in a small bus. This was one of the negatives. Secondly, the accommodation was good overall with the exception of the hostel in Belgrade. The room we were assigned smelled heavily of smoking although the sign said no smoking. This was unpleasant. It was also our worst accommodation in terms of cleanliness and furniture - old carpets, stained furniture, torn curtains and blinds. Therefore, no 1.
