Haka Tours was born over a decade ago from the dreams of one man who wanted to reimagine how small group adventure tours were run. From the very first tour in June 2007 until now there’s been no looking back, and 12 years on we’re incredibly proud to be regarded as New Zealand’s leading small...

- Clara Marie· January 27th, 2024this tour was just a huge disappointment, this is overpriced, unorganized and leaves you sorry for all the money you spent. of course the sights you will see are amazing, but the tour itself just makes you sad. the guide had absolutely no plan at anytime what was going on, due to this lack of organization, it was always quite hectic rushing from one place to the next. also I made bookings for activities back when I booked the tour itself months in advance, just to realize once I was at the activity it was not prebooked. here it’s advertised as 18-39, which was actually not true, more like an average of 45+. the hostels are not high-end, they are just normal average youth hostels. I did reach out to them on the second day, explaining the circumstances, but sadly did not receive a very constructive answer and no resulting action. honestly, I‘m just mad.Show moreTrip date: January 2024
- AArjan· January 8th, 2024Everyday was different. A well planned out tour giving a rich experience. You want to know what Maori culture is in a short time? This is it!!!!!!Trip date: November 2023
- ABAdrienn· September 5th, 2023This tour was an amazing way to see the main highlights of the North Island. I really enjoyed learning more about Maori culture, the great selection of activities on tour and seeing all of the unique landscapes like volcanoes and geysers. My tour guide Summer was also the best! Always full of energy and joy and this really reflected on our group's mood too. Highly recommend!Show moreTrip date: November 2022
- CCCatherine· February 6th, 2023We unfortunately had awful weather which meant many of the activities could not go ahead. However, George, our tour guide, worked so hard to fit in many of the activities, including driving us back up to hobbiton. A very well organised and resiliant team at Haka prevented our trip from being a right off. Would go with them again.Show moreTrip date: January 2023
- IAIsabelle· December 10th, 2022Had a fantastic time! There are so many extra activities to choose from. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate the entire time so some activities were cancelled. Not much that can be done about that. The Māori cultural stay was probably my favourite stop. So much fun and learnt to much. Also shout out to Cal our guide who was great!Show moreHaka Tours commented on this reviewThank you for the great review! - IMimam· March 13th, 2020the tour was good but they can add more activities io some idle times.Trip date: February 2020
- MDMark· February 24th, 2020Brilliant company with a very personal approach to guiding, effectively becoming one of the group most of the time. The small group size and mostly solo travellers means that a group of strangers leave as close friends after the trip. It clear that Haka have great values, with bolt on activities sometimes costing less than the walk in price and with their support and appreciation of the Mauri community. Highly recommended, just wish I had booked to stay longer. Thanks Kenna and Haka Tours.Show moreTrip date: February 2020
- Pia· February 9th, 2020Definitely do it! The hostels can be harsh and things might not be always 100% organised but you get to experience NZ in such a unique way that makes it all worthwhile.Trip date: December 2019
- AAlvinParker· January 31st, 2020Do it. 14 out of 16 were solo travelers and we all got along great. Most were in their 20s, some in 30s and 40s, 2 were in the 50s and the couple were 65 and we all became friends. The younger ones liked to play music (on the bus) more than the older ones but the leader/driver was very good at keeping a nice balance. It was very relaxing and you could easily spend time with others or go off alone if you needed space.Show moreTrip date: December 2019
- BBlaise· January 12th, 2020A really great tour to introduce you to the North Island. Perfect to see as much as possible in 7 days. We really enjoyed all of the activity options and freedom to pick and choose what you like.Trip date: January 2020
