Country Roads of Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. April 2023 We have been on over 50 cruises and land trips. I rank this trip as the second worst. Also, our tour director, Frank, is the second worst we have encountered. First, Insight touts that their hotels are in the center of the activity. In Bruges, the hotel was about an hour walk from the bustling square. Our guide director had stated it was a fifteen-minute walk. One of many erroneous istatements from him. We walked it several times, 45 minutes was our best time. The most egregious deception was the stop in Luxembourg. The hotel was not located anywhere near the main city and attractions. Our director told us it was a 200 euro taxi to the city. He then tried to extort us to take a expensive excursion to Trier, Germany (a place we already been) with a promise to stop in the Luxembourg city. Or he could drop us off in the city and pick us up several hours late. Trier is an old cobblestone city with “highlight” being the birth place of Karl Marx, which is now a Convenient Market. The temperature was 35 degrees and a multi-hour walk did not appeal to us. Therefore, we were stuck in the hotel with the only amenities offered was a 300 Euro massage. Ergo, we were denied a chance to visit one of three countries. There were 40 people on the tour. Their experience with Insight varied from one to six trips. All were seasoned travelers. With one exception, meals provided were fair to below average. When you try to feed 40 people, you’re basically serving a buffet that is plated in the kitchen. We did manage to have some excellent meals on our own. Our tour director made several embellishments. Such as Rotterdam was the fifth largest port in the world, and Heineken was the top selling beer in the world. People Googled the facts and just shook their heads. I should note that one of my best trips was also on Insight. But that was in 2019 when they were a topnotch provider. We also had an outstanding tour director. Based on this trip, Insight has dropped in value and quality. They now nickel-dime you, even charging for water. I tried to tell this information to Insight, but they have no way to handle complaints. That is a telling sign that they don’t want to improve.

We had such a wonderful time! Our Travel Director Brad was amazing and made the whole journey so comfortable for us. We never had to worry about anything with Brad and James as our driver. The coach was very spacious with extra legroom and was very comfy and clean. The itinerary was great with a nice pace. Getting to view the Last Post ceremony was defiantly a highlight along with all of the small flourishes we had throughout.
