Insight Tours cancelled our trip (Spain, Portugal, Morocco), which was scheduled to begin August 6th. They advised of the cancellation via an email, which went to our Spam folder, and which we only saw by a miracle. If we hadn't seen the email, we would still think we were going! We couldn't reach an agent via telephone after getting this email to confirm the validity of the cancelation and had no response to the multiple emails we sent to confirm. Four days after receiving the cancelation email, the MyInsight website for our trip/account still showed that our trip was active and didn't mention anything about a cancellation. We called Insight again and finally reached a customer service representative after being on hold for over 3 HOURS. The email we received advised that the tour was cancelled due to "lack of participation", however, the customer service rep advised that it was cancelled due to an "operational issue". There was no mention of a discount on another date or tour, or any sort of apology. We were told that we would get a refund "within 120 days", which we said was unacceptable. The representative then said he would process our refund and we should see our funds in the "next billing cycle". We have yet to receive a refund and are stuck with $3,800 in non-refundable airfare that was booked prior to the fuel prices skyrocketing, so we can't get comparable flights to similar destinations at this point with the credit. This was going to be our 35th wedding anniversary trip. This was a very bad experience for us. The company seems to be booking more business than they can handle at the moment. Definitely no higher end or good customer service in our case.

We actually did this tour in 2004! We DID enjoy for the most part. Spain and Portugal was good. Guide was our fave ever of some 30 tours with various suppliers. However, Morocco is a PROBLEM on this tour. They cover a huge part of the country in 6 nights. 5 if you discount night in Fez after getting off ferry. A good tour of this swath of the country is 10 to 18 days with Insight (10 days for Morocco only) or many others, including my later Gate 1 16 day tour. In 5 days you rarely get off bus! Just ride. I highly suggest booking Spain and Portugal as a tour and Morocco as another. You will be disappointed if you don't. We had to buy over $500 worth of options per person to make this an actual tour. HIGH pressure individually on bus by leader to buy! We have done 24 tours with Gate 1 since this tour. They are cheaper by far and just as good or better in every way. Because of the rush job in Morocco I cannot recommend this tour.

Extremely disappointed in this tour. We we looking forward to visit these three countries and the only thing we saw was the inside of a bus. Way too much time sitting (one day over 5.5 hours). Pay lots for the water on the bus, and they have you captive so no choice. The stops, especially in Morocco were at Jewish owned stores that were a huge waste of time and the stuff we bought was way over rated and overpriced, and we were pressured to buy. What a waste of money, and never again with Insight. DON'T DO IT PEOPLE! The bus driver was the only good thing about it all. Food was o.k. in most places, and hotels were alright, but far away from anything so we were stuck at the hotel from 5:00 p.m. on. Waste of time and money.

Decent tour turned bad with mouldy, dirty hotels in Casablanca, Tangiers and Grenada. The real problem is that Insight has refused to reply to our complaint except for a computer generated "we like you" marketing response. Tours are generally good but if you have a real problem DO NOT EXPECT INSIGHT TO REPLY OR ADDRESS YOUR ISSUES. Basically they have your money and they could care less. BUYER BEWARE.

Treasures of Spain, Portugal and Morocco overall was an okay tour with plenty of time spent travelling. The bus is extremely comfortable with plenty of leg room and good wifi (except in Morocco). Water is very expensive onboard so plan ahead and buy locally. The tour visited all the main attractions and had informative guides but visits to sites were generally too short, there was way too much emphasis on stopping for coffee, bathroom, lunch breaks in locations with nothing else around. A common phrase heard on tour was "have your cameras ready, a photo opportunity coming up" - that meant take a photo from the bus window but there still managed to be time for a 1.5hr lunch stop. Also not enough time given for shopping in local areas, but we had plenty of stops at expensive "kick back" shops where the tour director and Insight are paid a commission. Hotels are generally a 3 to 3.5 star, not 5 star as stated. The most disappointing aspect of our tour was the unavoidable delay crossing back to Gibraltar, due to severe weather conditions. Although Insight did provide an additional 2 nights accomodation and meals, we ended up spending the best part of 3 days sitting around waiting and so missed out on seeing Gibraltar, St Michael's cave, Costa del Sol, Granada and the Alhambra Palace. Even though all of this, including entrance fees, is included in the tour Insight Vacations offer no reimbursement whatsoever!!! Would I travel with them again? NO definitely not!!!

What our customers ask about this tour

The content in our FAQ section is subject to change.
  • Is there an opportunity to see a bullfight in Madrid?

As Bullfighting has been outlawed in quite a few regions it is not currently included as part of the scheduled activities in Madrid. However, if you are interested in experiencing this traditional Spanish artform your tour manager will be able to provide some advice while on the tour of where it is possible to experience this. Due to animal rights and other such issues Insights Vacations does not include it as a part of the tour.
