Costa Rica Pacific Coast Tour Companies

We booked a trip for 6 friends on a tour to Costa Rica. Unfortunately, there were complications from the beginning. 1. Our flight was cancelled and Wingbuddy refused to answer the calls because they stated they were busy rebooting other tours. It took 3 weeks to rebook the flight. 2. Our tour bus was too small for our group. Their solution was to put the luggage on the roof of the van while we drove 5 hours through the jungle in the rain. Then they decided that the luggage will be stacked in the aisles. So the emergency exits were all blocked by the luggage, and no one could exit the bus until each row's luggage was moved out of the aisle. This caused a 1h delay. 3. The bus driver did not know the route to either the restaurant, which we passed 3 times and had to turn around illegally multiple times, then did not know the route to the hotel and asked people on the street. This caused a 2h delay. Because of all this we were 3h late for the town and missed the excursion. 3. The next day, the bus driver couldnt be found. The tour guide has to find him 30 minutes later. The bus driver then took us to a coffee tour where he went to the wrong coffee tour. 4. For all this hassle, Wingbuddy offered compensation of one alcoholic beverage at dinner. I have been on multiple tours all over the world, and I would not recommend this company at all.

This tour was absolutely amazing! It was a Dream Vacation for my husband and I the year we turned 60. We had never travelled to a tropical country together before. The organization of the tours, the customer service, the accommodations, were all outstanding. We have not one bad thing to say. The first part of the tour to La Tortugaro and the Coffee/Cocoa Tour in the Arenal area were the two biggest highlights; but the whole thing, every day, every hour, was amazing! I would do it again in a heartbeat!

This was a great trip - highlights were Carlos and Jonathon - our guide and driver…. They did everything to make our trip run smoothly and show us as much of Costa Rica as they could… Fab cycling, brilliant wildlife, a great selection of hotels - all very different… we got a great feel for Costa Rica.

The guided tours on the optional activities were brilliant. The last hotel in Manuel Antonio was the icing on the cake after some quite gruelling cycle rides. So well positioned near the beach. I always felt safe and looked after on the bike rides

Our guide, Alejandro Rodriguez, was fabulous - knowledgeable, articulate, courteous, energetic, and fun - but not everything on the tour was at the same level. Two of the four hotels we used did not have hot water. One of the hotels was very noisy and seemed more like a hostel than an actual hotel. The tours included with the package were of limited value (especially the night walk, which was not good). And, most importantly, booking of optional tours was less than optimal. Instead of enabling us to select and book the optional activities in advance, we were required to tell our guide the day before each activity. This led to a frantic scramble when one of the optional activities was sold out and we could not find an alternative. Our guide solved the problem (we unexpectedly received a private tour), but the situation could have been avoided had we been able to book in advance.

The small group explorations are always my favorite. We had 19 people and the itinerary was amazing. This tour gave me “first ever” experiences as I was exposed to the rainforest during the rainy season. The unusual flora and fauna, white water rafting, zip lining, hanging bridges, hearing from local people about green turtle research, coconut plantations, cacao plantations, and coffee plantations all were firsts for me and I loved every minutes. The accommodations were beautiful and each unique to the area and staying multiple days in each was especially enjoyable. The Arenal Volcano was my view for three nights. Nature walks and boat rides on rivers and canals added greatly to my list of birds and animals spotted. Our guide was so knowledgeable and an extra plus was that he brought his scope which allowed us to get awesome views of those animals and birds nestled in the trees. I arrived in Costa Rica a day early so I added a city tour of San Jose that was arranged at my hotel. I have never been disappointed with Collette tours and this one was exceptional!
