- EHEileen· February 11th, 2019The holiday started very badly for me because I applied for the Indian visa, which turned out to be a rogue website and immediately lost 165 US dollars, which I paid through PayPal. I think that the details giving the visa application web address sent to me by your Company should be sent immediately on booking, rather than on the day prior to departure, which was no use at all. The tour was great, although a bit hectic, and in future I would choose to concentrate on one area, rather than taking 3 internal planes, which we found limiting with regard to our internal flight luggage allowance of just 15Kgs, not to mention the travelling to and waiting times at the airports, Although the drivers were excellent, the car journeys, which lasted many hours, were fraught with danger and not relaxing at all, due to all the hazards on the roads that the drivers needed to negotiate. We found the hotels great value for the type of holiday, although the Jaipur hotel, whilst it was decorated beautifully, was sadly lacking in breakfast quality, served on a freezing rooftop. On the first day we were asked what we would like, rather than having a buffet, as per the other hotels. On the second day, there were a few serving dishes put out, but most of the food was already eaten by other guests, even though we told the staff what time we would be arriving for breakfast. What was there was cold anyway, because there was no heat under the food to keep it warm. The cooking took place three floors down the building and by the time the ordered omelettes arrived they were cold. However, we did have a very nice dinner on the first night at that hotel. The sightseeing tour in Delhi was very disappointing, because it was on Republuc Day, and the sights allocated for us to see were either closed or difficult to get to because of the sheer volume of people and traffic, and even the Lodi Gardens, which we wanted to see instead was unavailable to us, due to the driver being unable to park. Jaipur was fantastic but expensive, especially the ticket price of 3500 rupees each to see the Maharaja’s Palace and private rooms, especially as we were not allowed to take photos in most of the areas. We did not take the elephant ride. We asked if the ride money could be allocated for fruit for the elephants, but this was not possible. Agra was amazing but we arrived very late in the afternoon, due to bad traffic conditions getting out of Delhi. We took an afternoon tour of the Taj Mahal and the fort. We took the rickshaw ride and sat in the back of it facing the traffic behind us, because the guide took the front seat. This was a very uncomfortable, and not worth it. The guide took us to the ceramics factory, which he said was partly owned by him. We spent a long time there, having sat through a long demonstration of the ceramic making process, so much so that there was no time to see the Taj in the evening. We bought a small jewellery box and a set of coasters of the Taj Mahal and flower decoration, which totalled £272 sterling. We later discovered that we could get the same products at a fraction of the cost, not only in other shops, but even at Jaipur airport! We appreciate that the guide makes commissions, but we were definitely fleeced there. Having seen Varanasi on the television, we loved all of it. We knew what to expect, and it did not disappoint. The hotel was excellent for comfort, food and service. The guide was excellent. We would highly recommend him. Mumbai was just as lovely as the last time I visited. We had some great street food and walks with the guide. The sightseeing was very informative. The driver who picked us up from the airport in Cochin had the most challenges of all. He was excellent, although he drove very fast. We saw some lovely sights with him. He was very accomodating and helpful, although he took us to places not on the itinerary on the journey from Cochin to Munnar, which were very interesting but we missed the main event of the tea plantations due to that. We went to the tea plantation the following morning and visited the museum and had a great demonstration of the tea making process, and a talk on the benefits of green tea. We made purchases of green tea and souvenirs, were given the change, and moved on to buy some cups of tea. The sales assistant then told me he had overpaid my change by 500 rupees. I had not checked my change and just put it into my purse. I could not prove one way or another if this was case, so I was willing to check the CTV cameras with the management to throw some light on the subject. It turned out that the coverage was not coming up. The sales assistant insisted that his till money was short., so I just paid the 500 rupees, because it was time wasting and we had a long journey to Periyar. The journey over windy roads and potholes between Munnar and Thekkady was most unpleasant. We had no guide. The driver’s English was limited (but he was not a guide), so we spent most of his journeys just talking to each other rather than hearing information about the areas we were driving through. If we were to criticise the planning, it would have been appreciated if the driver had told us exactly what we were going to do each morning, so we could have been aware more of the extra things he had planned. The journey from Munnar was spectacular, however, but very very bumpy. We loved the boat ride at Periyar plus the dance show and enjoyed an afternoon after that of doing our own thing before driving to Allepey. We were allotted a disabled room at Periyar. The staff and restaurant were excellentThe food superb, but the room was very damp, full of condensation, and our clothes were wet. This was due, we think, to the extractor fans not working. We told the management on our departure, and hope that fir future guests the problem would be rectified. The houseboat was great, we loved the backwaters and the crew were very lovely, The final day at Marari Beach was breathtaking, a perfect ending to a very interesting and diverse holiday, despite the hair raising journey of playing dodgems back to Kochi airport for our return flights home! We shall certainly use your Company again,Show moreGeTS Holidays commented on this reviewHello Eileen, Greetings of the day! Thank you so much for your honest feedback. - Ali· August 28th, 2018We were a family of 4 and visited Mumbai, Srinagar, Delhi & Agra At each location the driver was already waiting for us at the airport with a placard. All the drivers were very courteous and soft spoken and respectful of and mindful of our requests and preferences. Indeed the drivers were more Guides than just drivers who genuinely took interest in highlighting the various city landmarks along with the historical background, This made the tour all the more interesting The accommodation in all cities except in Srinagar was as promised. However, the houseboat we stayed at in Srinagar was sub-par which we have communicated to GeTS Holidays, who have assured us that this Houseboat will no longer be used by them I would recommend GeTS Holidays to all those who are considering a stress-free vacation in IndiaShow moreGeTS Holidays commented on this reviewDear Ali Asghar, Namaste from India !
