  Overall, this trip was truly authentic, just like its name. 14 days have many interesting experiences and diverse cuisine. The highlight for me was the experience of being a lantern maker in Hoi An Ancient Town. In just one hour, with the detailed guidance of the lantern artisans, my friends and I created our own colorful lanterns. Absolutely loved this trip and was really pleased with the experience.

  Bottom Line Up Front: We booked the 14 day trip for Cambodia and Vietnam and we had a generally positive experience, but found some inconsistencies throughout our trip. Structurally, we were a bit surprised to find that we didn't have a designated tour guide throughout our trip, rather, we had many day-trip tour guides and a main trip coordinator via WhatsApp. There were some incredible highlights throughout, but we did find some deficiencies in some hotels and specific guided tour itineraries and the overall value of the itinerary didn't live up to expectations. The Standouts: - Ba Vi Eco tour was incredible. We were actually hesitant about this one going in and severely tempered expectations, given on paper it read very similar to some of our less than stellar other tours (please see Nitty Gritty section). The guide was helpful, knowledgeable, and very empathetic, which led to an experience that felt authentic where we could connect with the place and the people. No sales pitch, we were given a small satchel of tea as a souvenir instead! Ba Vi was beautiful, the tour was a nice size and not too packed or rushed, and we got to meet with local people who were interested in sharing their lives with us, for which we are so grateful. - Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh - both tour guides were knowledgeable and we really felt we got to do a lot during our time. The Angkor Wat day in particular was packed, from an 8am start to explore all the way down to drop off after sunset - we got the freedom to explore the sites but also received a lot of context about the history (ancient and contemporary) about these places. - Jeep Tour in Ho Chi Minh City - our tour guide was fun and engaging and knowledgeable about the variety of sights. We enjoyed the nature of the tour, since it gave us a nice intro when we get into the city. We didn't particularly enjoy the lacquer store sales pitch detour, but the rest of the tour made up positively for this. - Hoi An lantern making - fun craft session, no sales pitches, we get to keep the lantern as part of the tour! Again, we were afraid that we would be subject to awkward and pressured sales pitch, but the crafts people were friendly and helpful as we learned this new technique! The rest of this tour was just ok. The Nitty Gritty: The tours we've had in Vietnam have had some serious quality issues: been minimally informative and with pushy sales stops that are wasting time to sell things we don't want. - The Hue tour had good destinations but incense sales was very uncomfortable, we found the bus to be packed with two tour guides, two languages, and weak air conditioning - they really should have split the groups. Lunch was delightful and a reprieve from the other quality issues. - The Mekong tour had an informative guide but otherwise the destinations were very poor. The river destination is not worth the stop, the river was dirty and we basically just ride up and down for twenty minutes, ride broken bicycles around a footpath, then get subjected to sales pitches. Really low point. - Hoi An was gorgeous but the guide provided minimal information. We could have done this ourselves. In addition, some of the hotels are selections of cheaper pricing and reflected in their quality: mold, dirty sheets, AC issues, all of which requires us to either spend time to get corrected or to accept. There are plenty of three star options in all of these cities that can be found for reasonable pricing but we got stuck at dated options where the reviews and photos are not representative. On a vacation the last thing we want to do is waste time fighting with hotel issues or sitting through sales presentations. The Silver Linings: Long Pham was our coordinator throughout the process and kept us informed all the way from before we booked about specific details. He worked with us when we had difficulties with the tour and hotels, and found alternatives for us when we were unsatisfied.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our tour to Cambodia and Vietnam through Realistic Asia. It went super smoothly and it made travelling very easy. Lucy (our tour contact) made every effort to help us out and was always available if we needed her. I would 100% recommend this tour for a great adventure!

  The hotel room in Cambodia was not clean. We felt so disapointed. Even though they upgraded the room, my consultant, Minah, tried to meet and comfort us in the hotel. She was friendly and spoke English so well. We were surprised that an agent cared so much for a mistake not from their side that much. We felt so safe because we had a careful agent to take care and guarantee the quality of all services. It's a good decision to book a full package. Well-done.

  Suprise cave in Halong was surprising. We assumed that Halong bay comprises all islands and water. However, coming to this cave was somewhere out of the earth. Actually my consultant sent me a detailed itinerary beforehand but I didn't pay too much attention to search. It's like a paradise among the gigiantic bay. Other things were good but I was truly obsessed with the cave. It's so wonderful. Love it. Thank you for always taking care of us. Will highly recommend you to others.

  A place called Ba Vi was so special. I haven’t seen any information about it before. After being introduced about this, we decided to spend one day there. All activities were so cool and I felt like a real local person after one day there. All the conditions were not something we should expect from 3-star or 4-star facilities but all hosts and the guide were so friendly. Warmly welcome there. And don’t skip Hue when visiting Vietnam. The atmosphere was so peaceful and people were so elegant. They bought Ao Dai there. Try it once and buy as gifts for your family is not a bad idea. I will choose Realistic Asia to accompany for my next trip. Their professionalism is not a joke.

  I have returned from a trip with the help of Realistic Asia. My family took all private tours to make sure that we had our own guide and could change the itinerary accordingly. For each place, we had a different guide. Some were excellent and some were average. Surprisingly, my consultant always checked after one day of experience to know who was good, who was not good to modify. It’s getting better. My parents were delighted that I had made a good decision to choose this agent even though there were some points that they felt not good. We were taken care and comforted right away. Good service.
