- ESErica· August 20th, 2024I wish there was a way to give this person “Prince” ZERO stars. In all of my travels, I’ve never experienced such lack of professionalism and communication. We never knew what the next day entailed or what time we were to leave. One of our travel guests tried calling him several times and he would answer and then abruptly hang up. We felt abandoned. Imagine being in another country at the mercy of someone who just left us on our own. For me, learning about our history and being amongst Africans in the motherland was an experience never to forget, but it does NOT take away the poor treatment received from Prince. He was rude at times and me being a woman, I don’t believe he appreciated me voicing my opinion. The initial transportation upon our arrival at the airport in Accra, we were picked up in his personal car that was too small. This wasn’t the car service I expected; especially for the price we individually spent for this tour. In the ten day visit, we did things that were just thrown in. We ended up at a museum that wasn’t on the itinerary. The driver we were assigned had a van that was so filthy and damaged. The seats were soaking wet that everyone had soiled bottoms. The next day, we had the exact same driver and van, but now the van seats had plastic covers over them causing a moldy mildew stench that was quite nauseating. Spending nearly 5k, we all need refunds. The back window fell out on the ground and it only gets worse as the days go by with our tour person. Some good news first: LaBadi Beach Hotel and the sleeping quarters at Zaina Lodge were pleasant. Zaina Lodge had breath taking views. Seeing the wildlife up close was the highlight of my trip. The other hotels were fairly descent so no complaints there. Prince our host tries to “out talk” you as a way to divert from answering questions. He was HORRIBLE and honestly I’m owed a refund. He lacks people skills and can’t handle himself if you pressure him to respond to questions that require answers. We were nearly in a head on collision with our beat up van against a charter bus. One guest almost dislocated her shoulder while another injured her leg and lost a few fingernails. She was actually bleeding. This all happened as the van transporting us had to immediately swerve in order to miss colliding with the charter bus. We all shared our experience with Prince, but it wasn’t important to him. I believe he stated “that guy was fired”. Ten days of confusion, not answering questions, AND having his people follow us around to get money from us was just too much. Of course we would like to buy from the locals but he put them on us. A few of the sellers told us that they work for Prince. At this point, I want to go home. Learning about my history and culture truly took a back seat to the horrendous false advertisement tour director we were signed with. Olive Travel really needs to get it together. Perhaps vetting your tour guides (Prince)a bit better and the services and accommodations they select for us. Providing descent transportation for your guests and making sure they know how to drive. We also had two other guests that couldn’t make it due to no fault of their own and he did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to assist or make sure the money was refunded. They have their own story but this guy wasn’t helpful nor did he budge with any sort of assistance. Pure greed. Because of this experience, it makes me very skeptical of returning. I’ll tell my friends to stay clear of Olive Travel and Prince. Yes, he’s nice at first. Just don’t ask any questions. Oh boy!!! I truly hope the others on my trip will be honest and submit reviews the way I have. More than half of our group said they would. I’m also open for any monetary rectification since this was awful. Sorry Olive Travel. You must do better. Erica S.Show moreTrip date: July 2024
