Ian· May 21st, 2023Done this tour as a private tour for me and my wife. Very happy with the friendly staff. On Java island the guide is Roy and driver is Dian. On Bali, the guide is Kadek and driver is Buda. They are all very nice people and helpful. I left my tripods behind in a hotel and Kadek took all the trouble to recover it and sent to my overseas address.Show more

The first half of the tour (Java island) was guided by Mr Andi (& driver Dion) and the Bali section by Kadek (& driver Buda). Both guides & drivers were exemplary. Each was helpful & informative, providing lots of information, reviewing the plan for the day in advance (as outlined in the tour) yet open to changes that we suggested. There were no surprises or unexpected issues. The guides were ALWAYS on time and flexible with our schedule (we are early risers). We were not disappointed in anything that we saw. In fact, there was so much planned in each day, that we decided to prioritize and focus on what was important to us (and sometimes exclude some of the stops). We loved Mt Bromo, but decided to opt out of Mt Ijen (decided in advance). The hotels that we stayed in were excellent: rooms large, clean, AC and often with a pool on site (wonderful for an end of the day dip to cool off before dinner). Some hotels were a little isolated (wonderful scenery) obliging us to eat dinner at the hotel (but we were never disappointed with the food). In Java we ate primarily in local restaurants, sampling local cuisine (Jakarta-style, Sundanese etc), while in Bali the restaurants were geared more to tourists and were less authentic. Unfortunately our flight on the last day left extremely early in the morning so we decided to opt out on the Cecak dancers & seafood dinner since we would have arrived extremely late to the hotel. But together with our guide we re-organized our day. Altogether, highly recommended tour. - APAsmita· September 16th, 2019The itinerary was great and covered most of the worth doing sight seeing I would have preferred to have included the Merapi tour which we managed to do because of our guide who pointed it out to us. I didn’t enjoy the Ijen experience. I did not know what to expect and it was my worst experience of being frozen due to inadequate clothing( something the tourists need to be warned about) and also the exaggeration of the blue light. It was nothing like the photos and quite a dangerous expedition to walk up and then down into the crater in the dark. Again advice should be given to carry torches for people who are keen to go. I did take the chair which cost me quite a lot but well deserved by the people who took me up but a complete waste of time and money. The Jiwa Jawa hotel in Mount Bromo unfortunately was not the greatest. The bathroom was tiny and I could barely squeeze in (I am only a size 12 London size) so you can imagine the discomfort for someone larger. The bathroom had a bad smell and the room was very basic. The surroundings were nice and facilities adequate I would re think about accommodation in that hotel unless there are better rooms. Every thing else about the trip was great and thoroughly enjoyed. As far as including meals are concerned I would hold back as the allowance was not even enough to cover my meal and I have quite a small appetite.
