Tomas· November 26th, 2024The "guide" assigned to us from Tashkent to Bukhara was more of just an escort than an actual guide. Even as a guide, he was just "so so". We only had a good guide with real local knowledge of the sights while in Khiva. Itinerary was excellent with lots to see. Our Hotels were all also very close to the major sights with good restaurants nearby. The transport vehicles and drivers were all very good too. Trip date: November 2024- ATze Ping Kenneth Tan· July 8th, 2024When I decided to visit Uzbekistan, I was initially considering whether I should do it with the International Tour Companies with whom I had prior experience with or Steppe Journeys. After some correspondence with Steppe Journeys, I decided to take a quantum leap and give them a chance. I wasn't disappointed with my choice. Whilst the way the tour is carried out is somewhat unique given that there isn't a Tour Leader following you from one city to another, the instructions were relatively easy to follow. On Day 1, you will receive all your intercity train tickets and you will be met by the local guides on arrival at each city. The local guides are all licensed but shout out to the guide at Samarkand as he was the most outstanding out of the 4! All the Hotels selected were excellent and sufficiently central with dining options nearby. Whilst there was some confusion in the airport pickup and transfer on the first and last day, Odil from Steppe Journeys was responsive and resolved the issue once I called him. Just for your information, if you are arriving in Tashkent in Business Class, your exit point will be different from those arriving in Economy Class. Hence, this piece of information might be crucial so as to avoid any initial confusion in pick up points. All in all, a great tour and I would happily recommend Steppe Journeys if you are intending to visit Uzbekistan. Give the local boys a chance!Show moreTrip date: June 2024
- NKNobumi· November 6th, 2019It was a good tour and I enjoyed it very much in a small group. The guides are different in each city but they are well trained and have a lot of knowledge, especially Mr. Sean in Samarkand. The hotels are neat and clean, very comfortable. I recommend Yurt stay even though there is no hot-water shower. Just one point I am disappointed about was the transport. We had the option to drive or train from Samarkand and Bukhara, and chose drive. It was an 8 hour drive (without visiting Shahrisabz on the way) and spent all day in the car on the bumpy road such a long time. If I knew that I would not choose the drive. I suggest to delete the drive option or explain before we chose. Anyway I guarantee you can enjoy Uzbekistan with this travel agency, Steppe Journey.Show moreTrip date: October 2019
