The places that the so-called tour went to is a good itinerary. However, Sapa felt really rushed and not worth the 11-12 hours there and back on a bus with strangers and a driver who spoke no English. The tour of Hanoi was a bit too ambitious and didn't give enough justice to a couple of places. We didn't even make it to the Hoa Lo Prison. I assumed I would traveling with a set group of 12 but this was not the case. My travel buddies changed on a daily basis. Traveling alone, i would have preferred a more stable group. It was great to have different guides in the various places we visited as they had a lot of personal knowledge from growing up in the area. Cha, our guide in Sapa, was from a local tribe & taught me some of their language, and Guang, our Hanoi guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, interesting and entertaining. My dietary requirements were taken care of in each place, which made things a lot easier too. - KCKaryn· August 25th, 2023I joined a 6 day Northern Vietnam tour to spend time with other travellers, but this tour was just a heap of transfers by different drivers taking you to tourist attractions, who quite often would drop you off 200 metres from your hotel when it was dark or in the rain. I had better service using grab taxis and bikes whilst in Vietnam. Halong Bay overnight was great and Sapa was excellent. I would have preferred to stay at Sapa to explore longer, the hotel there was a great experience the owner outstanding and the treking sublime. - CHCass· July 8th, 2023Overall we had a really good experience on our 6 day tour in Vietnam. We did the tour that started in Hanoi went to sapa for 1 night and a halong bay cruise for a night. We were a family of 3 with a 6 year old for reference. We chose the 3 star hotels. Danny organized everything and was really helpful, friendly, and easy to communicate with via WhatsApp. We were expecting/hoping to be with a group but when we arrived found out it was just our family. It would have been nice to get to know some other people and have meals with other people, etc. So what happened, is transportation showed up at the designated time each day and took us to the next place, where they introduced us to the tour guide. The transportation was always in a 12 person van with other people but the other people got dropped off at different places. The tour guide we had in sapa was amazing and it was basically a 2 day private tour just for our family. Sapa was amazing and I would have liked to stay longer, especially given that it took over 5 hours to get there. The halong bay cruise was also amazing! We liked Hanoi, but the city tour wasn’t appropriate for a full day with a child, so we left after lunch (we arranged this ahead of time). All in all, it was great, but a little too much traveling each day. We were in a different hotel every single day and had to be up and doing stuff between 7-8 every day. It would have been nice to have two days in a place or a chance to sleep in and lounge a day. The hotels were fine but nothing special.
