I recommend!!! I'm not a fan of group travel but the service offered by DesrtBrise is more like a private tour with a well-trained team! The organization was perfect! Departure and return on time. The tour itself is well-balanced, with a wide variety of landscapes and walking times that are long enough to give you a sense of accomplishment, but not so long that you can't walk the next day. The team is also very good at finding the right balance between giving walkers space to appreciate the desert and ensuring a good group dynamic. Thanks to the whole team! My suggestion: walking sandals!

I could write an essay on this amazing 6-Day Camel Trekking Morocco Erg Zahar experience with the Desertbrise team but I will try to keep it short(ish). This was an excellently organized tour, everything that was promised was delivered and MORE! Nothing was ever too much trouble and the favorite saying of our guide was: "Just relax, don't think and enjoy." We were able to do that because we were in very capable hands. We ended up being the only two travelers on the tour along with a guide, a cook/camel master in one person, a musician and two camels to carry all our gear and camping supplies. Due to the nature of the tour we actually really enjoyed not having other people there. The desert is a magical place that is better enjoyed in the company of a few. Our guide pushed us exactly the needed amount - we felt like we deserved our rest at camp every day. He did say that they monitor the walking capabilities of each traveler on the first day and adjust accordingly. I concur. Our feet ached but our hearts sang. :D I would recommend hiking sandals (we learned the hard way as our shoes were not up to par) as the desert scenery changed quite a lot. We felt like we walked through many different deserts, not just a small part of the Moroccan Sahara. The drive there and back is long, but it didn't feel so as the scenery changed every 40 min and there is a visit to a Kasbah and a break for lunch too. We were there in April and the weather was warm during the day and chilly in the mornings and after sunset. A light down jacket was enough to keep me warm (I get cold easily) and 2-3 blankets at night that were provided by the tour. The few things I enjoyed having with me were wet wipes (so that you can "wash" at the end of the day - you will be sandy!), hand sanitizer and a headlamp. If you want to make your camping team very happy, bring some chocolate along to share by the campfire. ;) The care, hospitality and authenticity was the best we experienced in our time in Morocco. And the food at camp really was the best we had at any restaurant in Marrakech! Our cook took great care to always wash his hands and he used bottled water and vinegar to clean all the veggies. Ok, the review ended up not being short, but I cannot praise the Desertbrise team highly enough. THANK YOU for an unforgettable adventure after I thought that I have seen and done so much that nothing could impress anymore.

6-Day Camel Trekking Erg Zahar with Desertbrise Travel via Tourradar. This tour includes 2 full days of travel from Marrakech to M'Hamid El Ghizlane and return by car. At the end of the first day we were welcomed by Kahlil into a local home on the edge of the Sahara Desert. This would be our last chance to charge our tech, have a shower and get a good night’s rest before heading to the dunes after breakfast the next day. In the morning we met Mustaf and Abdul along with the two camels that would be carrying all our kit for the tour. The tour was an amazing experience. We trekked about 11 miles (17.5 km) a day, much of the time trailing behind the camels. But we managed to keep up a good pace and wasn’t left behind at any point. Mustaf did a very good job as guide, answering any questions we had and happy to pose for pictures on request. Mustaf and Abdul were both very good host, but I wish their role wasn’t quite so subservient. At each meal stop the priority was to make the group comfortable by laying out a blanket and soft cautioning, with nibbles, and tea once the fire had been lit, then prepare the meal. The food was better than any restaurant meal I’d had during my travels around Morocco. I struggled with the volume of food we were given, the camels often had to help us out with the ‘scraps’, you will not go hungry. I enjoyed the times where we were joined by Mustaf and Abdul to eat together. Our tour had been timed nicely to coincide with seeing in the New Year. On NYE we climbed the Erg Zahar (Second highest dune in the Sahara) to watch the last sunset of the year. That evening we all celebrated around a roaring fire, cooking bread in the sand and seeing in the NY singing and dancing. The things I wish I had known before travelling is the need for high legged boots, mainly because I was fed up of emptying sand out of my walking shoes. Even walking boots didn’t seem to be quite high enough. We suffered a bit with sand chafing, although our guides were content with sandals/flip flops! The other useful bit of equipment would be a warm sleeping bag. We made do with the thick blankets that were carried on the camels but with a full set of clothes, jumper, puffer jacket and 3 blankets folded in 2, I was still struggling with the harsh temperatures of the desert at night. At least by the time we arose the fire was ablaze. By the time we got walking we were in t-shirts again! Mustaf and Abdul were both fantastic host and did all they could to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Kahlil has done a great job in organising the tour and making it happen. If you are thinking of picking this tour then I would very much recommend it.
