- DMdouglas· October 19th, 2023I have just returned from a cycling tour, with three friends, through Tanzania that was organised by One Bike Tanzania. The whole trip was absolutely fabulous and I can't recommend these guys highly enough. Everything ran like clockwork and they were great fun to be with. It far exceeded all of our expectations. Our route took us 275km from the Kilimanjaro foothills to the entrance to the Ngorongoro caldera, which we did in 5 days. Really varied cycling and some inspired routes taking us into areas we never expected to see. The bikes were excellent Giant hard-tail MTBs that were virtually new. The accommodation was far better than we dared hope for with good meals and healthy packed lunches. Our trip included game-drives in Tarangire and Ngorongoro, that One Bike Tz arranged, and the transport and the guide were absolutely brilliant. Also, the guys have a fabulous, charitable ethos and they have gifted several bikes to needy people in their community, with plans for many more. Chapeau! Do yourself a favour and take this mind-blowing trip.Show moreTrip date: October 2023
- Alexander· November 26th, 2022OBTZ was for me the perfect tour operator, starting by the individual design of the tour for me as being the first time in Africa and TZ in specific: - Maasai lodges and sleeping in huts within the wilderness, hotel like lodge at the front of the Manyara lake, luxurious camp ground with panoramic view on this lake - biking in and to the Arusha National Park with all the wild animals - biking from one and the other National Parks with a guided tour / drive - high plateau of the Kilimanjaro When arriving at the airport, my guide and driver were already awaiting me, to pick me up, same for the departure in the very early morning, they dropped me at the airport. We spent 6 days together and where required we adopted our schedule and trips to the weather and the needs easily. The accomodations were all great, even this was not the high season and therefor OBTZ was not always able to use their default hotels/lodges. The local team to guide me was knowledgeable, I learnt so much about this country and the people. Great country and lovely people, wherever we arrived, we were friendly welcomed. The local team was at any time supportive and fully committed. I was a big joy, I feel very thankful and I'm sure, I will return for going on an other tour with OBTZ.Show moreTrip date: November 2022
- paul· October 30th, 2022A unique way to explore Tanzania—Cycling with One Bike Tanzania Oct 2022 My wife and I just completed a 10 day cycling tour with One Bike Tanzania (OBTZ). Overall, the experiences were a once in a lifetime view of Tanzania with a tour leader, Hillary, and support staff that made the adventure exciting, safe and always enjoyable. Riding excellent OBTZ Giant 29er mountain bikes and with a support vehicle always following, Hillary will modify the itinerary from an extreme physical challenge to a leisurely paced exploration. This is NOT a ride along the highway cycling adventure; we cycled in parts of Tanzania where typical tourists never go. Imagine seeing a giraffe or zebra just off the side of the path and being able to get off your bike to take pictures. We cycled past Maasai Villages and typical towns and were able to learn and experience how these friendly/welcoming people live. Our accommodations were top notch and each was unique; the food was plentiful and excellent. In addition, OBTZ is a company that actively supports the local community and is driven to improve the environmental challenges in Tanzania. In the end, we felt like we were a family.Show moreOne Bike Tanzania commented on this reviewThank you very much Paul for your review. We are really happy to hear that you enjoyed your bike tour from Kilimanjaro to Ngorongoro with us. It is always a pleasure to ride with you! We hope to see you soon again!Trip date: October 2022
- Elizabeth· October 30th, 2022This was our first trip to Africa, and the OBTZ team was fantastic and took care of every detail, patiently answering all our pre-trip questions and tailoring an expanded, customized 11-day itinerary to our needs. Hillary was an incredible guide! His wealth of knowledge about the country, the culture, the landscapes and the wildlife was like traveling with our own personal encyclopedia and translation service. Immanuel made sure the support van was always right there behind us, no matter how rugged the terrain or how far off the beaten track we'd cycled. Both were so kind, caring, and good-natured that every day was a joy and by the end, we felt like a family. When we travel, we like to find environmentally and socially conscious tour companies that are having a positive impact on their communities. One Bike Tanzania is all that and more! If you go to their website, you'll be amazed at the work they're doing to improve the lives of their community. I HIGHLY recommend this company if you want to truly experience the real Tanzania!Show moreOne Bike Tanzania commented on this reviewThank you very much Elizabeth for your kind review. Each day was unique and just the right level of challenging. One Bike Tanzania commented on this reviewThank you very much for your feedback, I am glad that you enjoyed the whole experience and also look forward to have more experience with you on two wheels. - HHannahMaeBohn· December 3rd, 2019This experience was my first ever cycling trip and I can now say I'm a huge cycling tour fan! Every day was a challenge (but achievable), in a way that led to an incredible amount of personal satisfaction. The terrain was quite varied day-to-day, which made the trip even more interesting and allowed us to see such a variety of what Tanzania has to offer. Being away from main roads for large periods of the trip allowed for untouched natural beauty, meeting different villages / tribes, and biking among giraffes, zebra, wildebeest and other wild life. Hillary, our guide, was fantastic - very knowledgeable about cycling and Tanzania, and eager to share. He was also very accommodating, adjusting daily itineraries to our preferences and arranging a safari for our last day. I signed up for a cycling trip and left the experience with a new hobby / passion, a love for Tanzania, and new friends.Show moreOne Bike Tanzania commented on this reviewThank you very much Hannah! For us you created the everlasting memories and I would say that riding with you was enjoyable in every moment and despite being our job to cycle with you it turned up to be more fun, in simple words you turned our job into...
