My only complaint is that we had to take very long drives to visit certain temples such as Abu Simbel, where we spent 6 hours in a bus to get there and back. if i had known this beforehand I would not have taken this visit. Something for the organisors to think about.Show more

Michael was a great, balanced tour guide at Saccara and Medhat Melad had an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of all things ancient Egypt. I was a bit let down by the spice market and oil shops at the end. Everything was so great that ending up in situations where it felt like the intent was to create ‘emotional buying leverage’ of extremely overpriced goods was a bit of an anti-climax. There were so many interesting things to see, the pyramids, the temples, the tombs and the museums; the people of Egypt were so warm and welcoming. I would especially like to thank my guides Mina Magdy and Kero Faddy for doing such a great job of explaining the history and cultural significance of the sights. They both gave clear detailed and inciteful explanations. You can read as many guidebooks as you like but nothing is better than having an expert guide walk you through the sites and point out the small details. I would also like to thank my drivers Ehab Farouk and Medo Gamil for navigating me to the venues through heavy traffic; they did a great job. Many of the sites were difficult to get to and it was nice not having to worry about transportation. - MRMichael· November 15th, 2023First, the good part. The team on-site responsible for my transfers did a great job. I was met promptly and escorted through all checkpoints at all times. Never did I have to find my way through the airport with signs mostly in Arabic. The hotel arrangements were excellent. The quality of accommodations and the service were all excellent. Now, downhill. The company made no effort to coordinate the timing of arrival with the hotel check-in. Flights from NY to Cairo arrive at 3 AM. I was at the hotel at 5 AM to hear that I had to wait in the lobby for 4 hours unless I pay for an extra day. I had to dish out $255 to get to the shower and the bed after a 10-hour flight. The second flaw is that the trip is overbooked with activities. It doesn't leave you a minute to relax. Many start at 5 AM. I wouldn't mind that if not the third flaw: a terrible choice of guide. Mine didn't speak English well, was difficult to understand, but, worst of all, constantly manipulated my schedule to give himself an early end of the day or a day off. In addition, he delivered me to the local merchants, with whom he clearly had an "arrangement" and whose practices were shady. I was peddled, harrased and cheated. By the end of the trip, I was more than exhausted. And I am not a light or an inexperienced traveler. Tips for the prospective traveler: watch your itinerary and do not easily agree with the proposed changes on-site. There is no reason for you to miss breakfast and not to start your day well-rested. Choose a better tour. You want to spend a couple of days in Cairo (One in Giza, one - visiting museums), a couple in Alexandria (please check, I wasn't brought there), a couple in Luxor, and one day in Aswan to visit Abu Simbel. There is nothing else to see in Aswan. Three to four Egyptian Temples is enough. They are all quite similar.
