Hotels were centrally located in the city centers, allowing guests to wander on their own within walking or short distance to sopping and entertainment centers.

Overall great travel route, excellent hotels/breakfast, centrally located with easy access to restaurants and shopping centres. Tour guide from Tokyo to Kyoto was excellent (Hiro), very knowledgeable and helpful. But the tour guide from Kyoto to Hiroshima (Emi) was very very poor, not helpful and did not have sufficient knowledge of Hiroshima. Using the Hop on Hop coach in Hiroishima, the recording had excellent information which Emi should listen and using in her future tour guide opprutnities.

The entire tour was well-organized and well done. I was particularly happy with the choice of hotels in each locale and impressed by the Tour guide for our itinerary.

Our main guide (Hiro Tokuchi) was excellent as was our Osaka guide (Jackie) but we has a day in Osaka on our own. In Osaka Globus gives you a metro pass each, which is very helpful, but what you fail to make clear is that the station for the Open-Air Museum of Japanese Farm Houses in Hattori Ryokuchi Park, as suggested by the Globus Go app, is one stop beyond the valid boundary of the metro pass. When we tried to use our pass to exit our destination station our passes were rejected. A very nice metro employee, who spoke no English, managed to convey by sign language that we had to pay an excess fare and there was a conveniently place machine for that purpose. It being Japan the machine accepted 1000 yen notes and gave change. To get round the non-working metro pass problem on the return journey we bought a ticket for a one station trip, exited, and then used our metro pass for the rest of the journey. This worked fine, but shows what trouble we get into when we are let out on our own. We go on these trips so we are looked after.
