- Tineke· September 29th, 2023This trip was amazing! I couldn't recommend it more highly. Huge landscapes and big skies, history, culture and warm and generous people. The trip itself was very well organized with a fantastic guide (thank you Gan-Erdene) and really competent great drivers. The accommodation in Gers was great - in many places as it started to get cold - they would come and light the stove at night and again early in the morning - super cozy! The only advice I would give is to bring a sleeping bag for the stay with the Nomad family (if you have room in your bag and especially as the weather gets colder) along with a good coat and rain coat. Our drivers Tirinbaatar and Tsirindowg were excellent drivers who faultlessly negotiated sometimes difficult roads, and gave us a comfortable ride. They were lovely friendly helpful guys. The itinerary had a great variety of scenery, activities and interactions with beautiful Mongolean people. Food and accommodation exceeded expectations every day. Each day provided highlights and interesting features and experiences. The people were great, the journey was great, and the memories are great. - ALaura Rinderknecht· June 29th, 2022Excellent trip around the Gobi desert and middle portions of Mongolia. Our CEO was fabulous - very knowledgeable, passionate, and personable. Beautiful countryside with long days in the vans. Loved staying in the ger camps - each one was unique and different! The nomadic homestay / camping was a highlight. Lots of nature in the Gobi desert - from dunes to flaming cliffs... and interesting history with Buddhist temples and Soviet purges. Not an "easy" trip - but certainly worth it! Things to pack: a light weight sleep sheet (the ger camps have heavy comforters and no top sheet, which can be hot at night in the desert.); eye mask and ear plugs - the sun rises early and the gers are open on top; saline spray for very dry air (or wet a towel to dry out while you're sleeping); an umbrella for the ladies to duck behind while peeing in the fields; audiobooks for the 5-7 hours a day in the van; an extra battery pack for charging - no electricity in the homestay and several ger camps had limited electricity for only specific hours.
