- Karri· February 26th, 2016This is the second trip we've done with Absolute Africa, 9 years apart, and we certainly weren't disappointed this time around either. From the great communication before we left, to our amazing tour leader Philippa, wonderful driver Steve and fun like minded truck buddies, it really was a dream trip come true. The truck was comfortable and spacious, the tents were great quality, the sleeping mats meant we slept better than at home. The animals, the people, the places, the activities, the fun times...made for a trip we'll never forget. Oh and dont forget the food, there was no chance of going without, with delicious meals and lots of variety put on by mama Philippa. Thanks so much to everyone, and we can't wait to get back to Africa and to trek with Absolute Africa again!Show moreAbsolute Africa commented on this reviewThanks for your feedback Karri, always lovely to hear people's experiences with us :) Philippa and Steve will love to hear you had such a great time! - MMarco· December 13th, 2014This tour was fantastic and I will remember it with a smile for the rest of my life. Especially our tour guide Vee was amazing. After a while we started to call her Mum and she truely was it for the whole tour. She was always smiling, had a great spirit and if there was a problem, she had a resolution right away. No matter what time of days it was, she had always a friendly ear for our little or even bigger problems and worries. Not to forget our driver, Angelo. Even after long day of driving he had a smile on his face and was offering help if needed. And even on a very early morning he was already up and greeting you with a warm "Good morning". When Vee was our Mum, he was our Pa. The truck and the equipment were in good shape considering the harsh conditions it's operated in. I really liked the tents, they were spacious and easy to handle. The only thing I wasn't completly happy about were the roll up tarps of the truck. On one side it provided a great panoramic view to both sides of the truck during game drives and sightseeing, but on long drives, you have to decide very careful if and which tarps you leave open. Otherwise it can be really windy in the truck. Also, the truck isn't the ideal vehicle for a game drive. Sometimes it would have been easier with a smaller safari jeep. The intinary of the tour was as described on the homepage and the assistance and booking process was without any problem and very friendly. Since I was one of the few who were leaving the truck after "only" three weeks it was very hard for me to say good bye to the others in Kigali. I wished I could have continued with them...Show moreAbsolute Africa commented on this reviewThank you so much for leaving such a lovely review, we are pleased you enjoyed the Absolute safari and it's lovely to hear that Vee and JB made it special for you! - Maciej· November 23rd, 2011We booked the Gorilla Trek with Absolute Africa after reading the reviews ourselves and not being able to find any negative reviews about this company and the products it offers. Though we were a bit skeptical about what we would get for the price we paid we were incredibly surprised and the great value for the money offered by this tour operator. A couple of us have traveled with another African operator in the past, for a lot more money, and have found that they do not even begin to compare with the standard of treks offered by Absolute Africa. Our guide was amazing, always smiling, incredibly well organized and efficient. Our driver was courteous and very safe. Not once during the entire 3 week trek did we ever feel like our lives were in danger. The trek was brilliantly organized and the food, prepared by our own trek members, phenomenal. We even had t-bone steaks for dinner one night, a complete surprise!!! My parent's, who are in their sixties, also enjoyed themselves immensely and were treated as equals among all the members of our group, most of whom where half their age. Though completely new, we found the tents a bit small for 2 people and had wished they were a bit larger. Being 192 cm tall I found it difficult to stretch while lying inside without one of my extremities touching the tent walls, which at night would often become wet. Aside from an "all-or-nothing" ventilation concept in the truck, that's the only other thing we would like to see change. The rest was all fantastic!! Overall, a phenomenal experience which we will continue in a couple of years along the remainder of the route. Would recommend to anyone willing to live an adventurous life!!!Show moreTrip date: October 2011
- Stephanie· January 5th, 2011Guide did a perfect job, sorted everything for the group. Everyday introductions what to expect of the next day, how to be behave in certain situations. Driver was great as well, drove safely and was always there to lend a hand. Been lucky, since the group was very homogene and got along very well. Loved the international experience. Countries visited were great, especially Rwanda and Uganda, what a lushy joy they are. Campsides stayed were nice, expected less hot showers or let's say I didn't expect too much showers anyways. But facilities were good. Would do it again. Actually I am thinking of doing the Namibia Nomad sometime soon. Been a pleasure to travel with Absolute.Show moreTrip date: November 2010
