I was very disappointed that our tour guide had us leave beautiful Opatija to bus for over an hour to a distillery. We had very little time to spend in Opatija. I would have appreciated to just stay there. The excursion was promoted as a smalltown experience, a museum, distillery and dinner. The dinner, a pasta dish was excellent. The town was just a church and the museum was not a museum but a small structure with rooms filled with old equipment representing different activities.

We have been on 5 Collette tours and this was not my favorite for several reasons. Our tour guide was very good at times but sometimes did not give us enough information. For example we went to a restaurant up in the mountains in the Istrian but arrived late because we stopped at a town called Hum that I thought was a not worth all the extra driving time. We could have stayed longer in Opatija which was a beautiful city with lots to see instead of all the driving. We also stopped at a winery which was very enjoyable but by the time we got to the restaurant it was between lunch and dinner, but we thought we were getting lunch, so we had no idea we would be getting so many courses. We were all full by the time the main course came. I feel a restructuring of the day is called for leaving out Hum. For us we were not given enough time in Opatija and too much time in Split and Bled. I know you cannot please everyone, and we all have different expectation, but this is the first time we were a little disappointed in the experience. That said, the country was beautiful and we did have some extortionary times.

Alan was so brilliant and patient. Fun sense of humor. Extremely knowledgeable. Very patient with questions. Seemed to follow the majority interests. Stress free because things went so smoothly. Very personable individual.

I have been on quite a few tours. This was by far a one that stood out! For the beginning, everything was great! It was very nice that we only had 17 people total in our group! Our tour guide Jegor Modric was I think the most caring person and was great with everyone! He really made everyone feel like he was there for us! He spent time with each person along the way. I was not able to do some of the walking, so he would take me to the end where everyone would end and make sure I had a cafe to sit and have something to drink. The hotels were very nice and clean, great locations. I know not all tours are this small, but we really enjoyed that and would be nice if it was offered as an alternative to tours! I know it is a little more expensive, but I know I would pay for a smaller group! Loved Croatia, beautiful place!

Tour was very well organized & our tour guide, Jegor Modric, was exceptional. We have been on many European tours with different companies & Jegor was the best guide we have ever had. He went above & beyond the expected to accommodate everyone & make the tour enjoyable. Croatia was beautiful & we had a great time.

Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and welcoming. The tour had a good balance of scheduled activities and free time. While every site visited was memorable, the old city of Dubrovnik and walking the wall was breathtaking and worth the climb.

Croatia and Slovenia are like Europe used to be 40 years ago. Lots of natural space, small cities, and few people. I highly recommend going outside of peak season to avoid the large tourist crowds. April was perfect!!! Collette did a great job including authentic experiences and meals in this tour. And our local Croatian tour manager, Jegor, added so much to the overall tour. Highly recommend!!!!
