- DJDaniel Shai· November 16th, 2019The tour was really fun! Very well planned - the itinerary was interesting and balanced. I also liked the fact public transportation was used and not a tour bus. Lulu was a terrific guide - very nice, friendly, knowledgeable and keen to help and answer any question - always with a smile and a positive attitude. I had a wonderful time, highly recommended!Show moreTrip date: November 2019

- ASybil K· September 18th, 2019Our excellent guide, Manabu Higa whose insights into Japanese culture were invaluable and whose sense of fun brightened our days; the variety of experiences; the food(!); the modes of travel. And lots more ...Trip date: March 2019
- ARebecca H· September 18th, 2019Love the small group and the opportunity to mix ""tour time"" and free time.Trip date: March 2019
- AKathleen K· September 18th, 2019Extremely well organized trip.Got to see a lot of places both as a group and on our own.The small group feel was awesome and the guides were a delight!Trip date: March 2019
- AJames T· September 18th, 2019Overall, this was a great experience. As is true for any group travel, the leader or guide is very important and our guide Manabu Higa was outstanding. As someone who had been in the Buddist priesthood for a time, his insight into the nuances of Shintoism and Buddism were extensive. His English is impeccable and he was keen to understand the habits and customs of his tourmates from outside Japan. We had 4 from Australia (one couple now living in Samoa), 1 from Toronto, Canada, and 4 from the US (my wife Cathy and I from Oregon and two young women from Minnesota) so the group size was fantastic and at one point we had 2 more ""guides in training"" so there were 9 of us and 3 guides! The itinerary was excellent.I thoroughly enjoyed traveling by train and also appreciated the amount of free time.Only in Tokyo did I feel that a little more structured time would have been helpful.I am glad we started in Kyoto and ended in Tokyo as I thought Tokyo was almost overwhelming (we are from southern Oregon and live in a town of 8,).We have been with other tour operators and on a number of cruises and this was one of my most enjoyable experiences as well as good value.I am glad we opted for the comfort level trip rather than the original as I don't think my back would have tolerated more than our 2 nights on Tatami mats and futons on the floor.Show moreTrip date: March 2019
- ACathy T· September 18th, 2019The size of the group was very manageable. The variety of experiences was great. Every minute was not scheduled. Meals were on our own which we prefer. The guide - Manabu was excellent. Lots of energy, very interested in making sure group had an enjoyable experience, adjusted for individual needs.Show moreTrip date: March 2019
- AAnastasia C· September 18th, 2019The knowledge of the local tour guide made it such and authentic experience- from traditional to contemporary Japan.Trip date: March 2019
- AJennifer S· September 18th, 2019Good mix of city & rural Japan. There were times that there were too many trains, for example the itinerary said only 2 trains on one of the days, but we ended up taking 4 that day - not sure the reason why we couldn't get the more direct train route that day,- taking convoluted routes is difficult for older guests or guests with some mobility issues & is generally unnecessary with the proper planningShow moreTrip date: March 2019
