- AAAnkita· August 13th, 2024the first three days I was made to stay in a room that reeked of sewer so bad that staff didn’t enter, and the TD didn’t care. On the first night we had to line up for our dinner, and many of us received nothing! as the other travellers had helped themselves to the one quiche and one pie (for group of 45) available & TD didn’t want to pay for more. He repeatedly put me in the same shared bed as a travelling stranger who had CP and required immense support but the TD asked me to assist instead of stepping in. When half the bus got severely sick, the TD refused to provide refund for optionals or call for a doctor. He removed trafalgar optional & slipped in unsanctioned dinner at a friend’s. He made us porter at awkward spots even after hotel confirmed this as a service. The optionals are to museums or to statues where it’s overcrowded, loud, and after five minutes you’re left to wander and explore a building with one insignificant ship or pictures of objects on your own but not with significant time. Over half travelling were 75/80+ and the old Americans often made extremely sexual and racist comments, and the TD did nothing!! Do the trip, skip the optionals, go with a company that’s not TrafalgarShow moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewThank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. - BPBeatrice· July 15th, 2024Jenn was incredibly educated, lovely, organized, and communicated with everyone on the tour so well. She loves her job, and it truly impacts the experience of the tour. Gabor, who was our driver, was so good at getting us places on time, safely, and navigated the coach on the switchback roads up and down the mountain like a champ!! We covered so much ground and were in the bus more often than I would have anticipated, but we got to see a lot of amazing things and stay in some neat places. The hotels were always in great locations for walking to the towns we were in, and the food was so good. The optional experiences had a mix of things, but overall were a dream. We met some amazing Scandinavians who love their countries and their lives and shared what they had with us. It was a really great experience overall!Show moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewThank you for taking the time to provide us with your review. - Lyndsea· July 5th, 2024I had a great experience with Trafalgar! Our guide, Jenn, was INCREDIBLE. So organized and knowledgeable. She did a great job keeping us on time and keeping us engaged. The included meals are some of the best I’ve ever had on a tour, and the porterage is a really nice touch. Geiranger Fjord is by far the best few days on the tour, especially if you get lucky like we did with weather. The only reason I’m taking off a star is for the add on activities. I really was underwhelmed by them. They were VERY expensive and not that great. An example of this is the Icebar experience at the end of the trip. I believe that the price with the group is $50-$60 per person. I decided to go after on my own and only had to pay $29. Another example is the fjord cruise. $70, but the next day a friend and I were able to rent a little speed boat (highly recommend doing this when at Geiranger) for $50 and had a WAY better view of the fjord. Not a big deal at ALL! But something to be aware of. If you do this tour. Overall, incredible guide, really stellar food and accommodation, and gorgeous locations.Show moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewWe appreciate your review. - JCJoseph· August 3rd, 2019We could not have possibly seen all the sights that we did had we planned the tour ourselves. The organization of the itinerary, the efficiency of getting from one location to another, the coordination of the travel, luggage management, and entry to sights was superb. The scenery was breathtaking. Although we took many pictures, they do not do justice of seeing the areas in person. We traveled by coach from city to city and some days required extensive traveling. However, due to the skill of our professional driver and the expertise of our tour guide, the trips did not seem so long or taxing. In particular, our tour guide planned for multiple rest stops along the way and in some cases this involved a local treat that presented opportunities for unique snapshots. In almost all cases, the stops involved opportunities for food and refreshments. All breaks were welcomed. Despite the stops, we were always on time at our destinations or even early in some cases. At each city where we stayed overnight, there was always some scenic pleasure or local flavor to experience. Our tour director was exceptionally knowledgeable of the local areas and customs and always provided us with very helpful information to allow us to navigate around the area without difficulty. In addition, the tour director kept us lively and energized by sharing stories and history of the areas through which we were passing. She was quite skilled at keeping our group together and providing us with a rewarding experience. The only issues we had were with the weather (heat wave in the area with no air conditioning at most of the hotels) which we understand is not under Trafalgar's control. The hotels were OK for the most part, but we would have preferred an American style hotel. We also understand that the meals had to be buffet style, but we did not like the need to have to jostle and nudge to get our meals, especially when competing with other tour groups at the buffet line. With the heat, having to work for the meals was quite taxing and detracted from the experience somewhat. We also understand that the pace of the itinerary was necessary to cover the ground that we did, but a more leisurely pace would have been appreciated. Getting up early every morning and traveling all day and then trying to sleep in hot hotels with no air conditioning was a challenge on some days. But, despite some of these issues, overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip and glad we had the experience we did.Show moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewHere at Trafalgar, we put careful thought into the creation of our itineraries to ensure that our guests' experiences are as seamless and enjoyable as possible. - Jane· July 10th, 2019The itinerary was great with lots of time built in for solo exploration. I liked having an orientation to the towns before heading out on my own. Michael had a lot of knowledge to share about the places we saw. He is s great story teller making everything interesting. His personality is perfect for the job. He kept everyone on time in a very respectful manner which was much appreciated. I also enjoyed the local guides who were also a wealth of knowledge. The optional excursions were Good value for the most part. Our driver was awesome. Despite the challenging terrain I felt very safe and comfortable on the coach. He was always very pleasant.Show moreTrafalgar commented on this reviewOur Travel Directors take great pride in making our guests’ time on the road special.
