- JKJanice· April 4th, 2024I can honestly say this trip was exceptional! Brad is an excellent guide and is very attentive to each person. This is a small group tour, only 10 of us and that was definitely a plus. The snorkeling was the best I've had in decades. If there was a day that someone didn't want to snorkel, Brad happily gave options and totally assisted in signing up for other activities. (I snorkeled as much as possible because each day brought so many different sea creatures - up close.) The waters were the most pristine you could imagine and the reefs are healthy and full of life. There was one day that I opted to go to the resort island with most of the group. It was a nice break and we really had a great time together. Brad has put together an incredible itinerary, making the most out of each day. We stayed on two islands, yet speed-boated to so many I lost count. It was an amazing adventure. The boat crew were excellent and never let us out of their site while we snorkeled. The first hotel in Maafushi had all ocean views yet I enjoyed the less touristy island of Fulidhoo. The islanders are friendly and both islands were completely safe. We were gone most of the day on amazing sea adventures - the main reason for this tour. If you enjoy viewing sea life in the cleanest, clearest waters, I highly recommend Beach Life Tours. Brad is not only a competent guide, he's also a great person to spend one of the best weeks you'll ever have in your life!Show moreBeachLife Tours commented on this reviewThank you so much Janice :) You summed it all up so nicely! - Sherie· March 30th, 2024Good snorkeling tours. The new resort we stayed in on Fulidhoo island was nice, but not running at 100%. Had issues with the wifi and trouble using the keys to gain entrance to the roomsBeachLife Tours commented on this reviewThank you Sherie! Happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Yes our hotel was so brand new that there was a couple kinks such as the wifi and keys, but it was all sorted out, and from here on everything is running smooth. A new hotel for our tours is big... - DGDebbie· December 13th, 2023We booked this tour expecting a group tour, but when other groups canceled/rescheduled, they asked us to choose between their other options. Based on their recommendation we chose the 7-day Rasdhoo “travel package.” So this review is for that tour, which is also on Tour Radar. I will preface this review by stating that we had a great time in the Maldives, as we are not fussy travelers and have a great time wherever we go. Nonetheless, I think some honesty about this “travel package” is necessary, as it’s lacking in the other reviews. In reality, this “travel package” was nothing but an overpriced hotel booking. You can absolutely book the very same hotel — Club Gabbiano — online for less than 1/2 the price, including the 1/2 board. The only thing included in the “travel package” not included in simply booking Club Gabbiano is the cheapest excursion offered by the hotel-affiliated water sports company — the sandbank tour — which they don’t actually recommend (we never got the promised tour), and the ferry. The ferry costs $40/person each way. The guide who was supposed to meet us at the airport to take us to the ferry was not very communicative and just walked us out to the ferry line and left us there. We ended up having to pay and seek reimbursement because he didn’t even tell the ferry company we were on a tour that included the ferry fee. You can easily walk out to the ferry on your own. It’s literally right outside the terminal and well marked. So when you add the sandbank tour (the cheapest excursion offered by the hotel) and ferry cost to the hotel rate, you’ll see that this “travel package” by this tour company is heavily marked up and not worth it. You are much better off using that money to stay at a better hotel/resort or for the excursions, which are expensive. As for Club Gabbiano, it is a small, very low budget hotel, similar to or even below a Motel Six in quality. The rooms are spartan. The service is very bare-bones. You won’t get towel changes during your stay. We even had to empty a giant bucket once or twice daily that they placed under the AC to catch the dripping condensation. There was no water in the hotel on two different days for many hours. And there is very loud construction going on right next to the hotel (maybe an extension to the hotel). The food is very simple, but quite good. However (a big one), the options are incredibly limited and get old fast. For dinner, there are usually 2 appetizer options, 2 entree options, and fresh fruit for dessert. Breakfast is buffet, limited and often cold, except for the omelet station, as they don’t put the food on warmers. They have a few more options if you take meals a la carte, but they never have everything listed on the menu, and it takes sometimes an hour for them to prepare the food. Note that because this is an inhabited island, there is no alcohol. There is also nothing to do in the evenings. The beach is right across from the hotel and was the highlight of our tour. The snorkeling was fantastic. We brought our own snorkeling gear, thankfully, as the equipment offered by the hotel looked old and was not sanitized. The beach chairs were generally not in great shape, but we were always able to find 2 that worked well. As for the water sports and excursions, the jet skiing isn’t worth the cost given the limited area in which you can use the jet ski. Note that the life jackets were not in great shape. We also did the manta tour, dolphin cruise, turtle adventure, and a banana boat ride. Those were all short but fun, and I’d highly recommend each of them. Also note that they do not really take credit cards (even though the tour company said they did) so bring lots and lots of cash - cash for excursions, drinks, lunch, and water sports. The wifi is hit or miss. And the staff, though they provided decent service, were not particularly friendly. We travel often and rely on organized tours when traveling to countries where we feel they provide a benefit over planning and booking our entire trip on our own. This was honestly the first tour I’ve booked that was a big miss and one that I would not recommend. I highly recommend doing more research for a better Maldives option or booking the hotel on your own and choosing nicer accommodations if within your budget. We extended our stay in the Maldives but moved to a very nice resort and it was so worth it. In sum, definitely visit the Maldives. It’s a beautiful country with amazing water activities! But this tour, for me, was overpriced and meh.Show moreBeachLife Tours commented on this reviewHi Debbie. Sorry to hear you feel that way, we have many other customers that say otherwise. - DDoug· April 23rd, 2023Because of other cancellations our tour became a self guided vacation. - RSRoswitha· February 27th, 2023Automatic translation available in English. View in EnglishWe had a varied active week, exactly what we wanted, we liked it very much and would basically also be worth 5 stars. The only annoyance: the mentioned approximate prices of the optional excursions in our 'travel package' are based on a minimum group size (often difficult to achieve on small islands), otherwise it's correspondingly more expensive, the tourist should know in advance and be able to adjust. We had to pay in any case significantly more, therefore one star deduction.Show moreBeachLife Tours commented on this reviewThank you Roswitha we're happy to hear you enjoyed your travel package!
