We had a poor experience with Outfitter Nepal. We felt they mislead us about the conditions of the Manaslu Circuit when we attempted in early March. Leading up to our trip, we repeatedly asked if the pass was open, since March is early-ish. Each time, they replied yes, it's open, don't worry. I guess "open" does not mean "crossable" because no trekker had crossed the pass since November 2023. As early as day 2 of the trek, we started to see groups turning around and coming down. It seemed like our guide was hesitant to tell us why, insisting we could cross the pass. Erroneously, we trusted his judgement. As we saw more trekkers turn around, telling us about the uncrossable snow pack and upcoming snow storms, we started to doubt. Ultimately, he lead us into a snow storm and we had to turn around at Sambo and walk 4 days down hill. On our way down, we saw more groups from Outfitter Nepal heading up! I was aghast! Why hadn't our guide warned the company the pass was closed so these groups could choose another trek? 2 stars because they gave us an extra night in our hotel. I also hope they took some feedback, like call the teahouse on the OTHER side of Larke pass to confirm that trekkers are actually making it or not.

We have been on two trips with Outfitter Nepal. On both occasions we had a private expedition with just the family including two young sons. We did a trek up to Kanchenjunga Base Camp and the Manaslu Circuit trek. In both instances we had a fabulous time, enhanced by the attention and experience of the Outfitter crew. I would highly recommend using them to anyone interested in exploring the many great national parks of Nepal. Andrew Martin
