All the tour guides were very knowledgeable and we especially liked Mary who guided us in Aswan to see the Philae temple, and Sayed who guided us in Luxor. Sayed was very helpful, able to adapt to requests and was great company. Thank you Sayed, you were amazing. The sleeper train was an experience. We had low expectations which were pretty accurate on cleanliness and facilities. However the guard (one per carriage) was wonderful. We always felt safe and it was lovely to wake up to views of the Nile. We didn’t eat the food as had eaten beforehand, which I would definitely advise. We took both the extras (balloon ride and trip to AbuSimbel.) This meant we were up every morning around 4.30/5am! Abu Simbel was good but maybe one to miss if you’re tired. The balloon ride in Luxor was absolutely outstanding. I didn’t know what to expect and with a fear of heights I had not thought about it until the morning we went. It was one of the most peaceful and beautiful experiences I have had. The major drawback of the trip was the eternal request for tips; on every mode of transport to the driver, to the guide, to people who insisted on taking your photo in the temples/tombs, and finally to the boat staff who were very angry at the tip we gave them for taking our bags to the taxi. We would have taken our own bags, however they grabbed them before we had a chance. One would have assumed that on a five star (?) boat taking your luggage to and from the quayside would be part of the service. However, we had 5/6 men on the quayside angry with the tip we gave them which was very intimidating. Fortunately, Sayed, our guide, dispelled the situation. We were happy to give him, and our driver, a generous tip but were not happy about being harassed by the sailors. One more thing to note is that you need to pay for all drinks on the boat, including water, coffee at breakfast, which was a surprise. Finally, we were given our bill on the boat before the balloon ride, i.e. at 5am. It was not added up, their card machine was “not working”. When we didn’t have enough cash, the total changed. We settled on the higher amount when we collected our bags at the end of the day, in cash. Not very 5 star!!!!Show more

- PWPeter· August 30th, 2023Good website, easy to browse and select. Good communications about tour. Payment smooth, no problem. Couple of comments about the tour, it says 'all tours included" but this does not include tickets to each site, which adds up to quite a lot. This should be specified on the brochure, I've seen it done better on others. Second, we did the train trip both ways, but you need to be pretty hardy, and like 50s soviet design 😉. Lastly, we did the option Abu Simbel, which is awesome, but it involves 7 hours drive and getting up really early. We didn't do the balloon but it was even earlier. These things weren't communicated. The river boat was great, fabulous food and heaps of it, vegetarians well catered for, lovely people. Sites were amazing, must see, guide was v. Good. Guide handled tipping which was great. We went end of august, it was HOT! A bit later would have better, but that was all we could fit. Definitely Aswan to luxor is the direction to go, not the other way. All transfers were smooth and we were always in contact with our handlers. We bought a local sim at the airport. You need either roaming or a local sim. - Nowhere· June 29th, 2023Luxor visit was excellent and I was very well looked after by Guide Khaled, an expert Egyptologist, who was very knowledgeable, accommodating and flexible. The vessel was less satisfactory. The air conditioning in my cabin ceased on day 1 and info from the crew said that a management decision had been made to not rectify it until arrival Luxor 3-days later, and even then my cabin did not cool down. No one really seemed to be too concerned.
