- Heather· November 4th, 2024The tour was amazing and gave us a great taste of India in the short time that we had. I felt completely safe the entire time our driver, Shripati, was terrific and made our trip we will never forget him we learned so much from him over the week from culture to general information he was the kindest man we had ever met. The guides met me at each city were very knowledgeable and made going around each area a much more enjoyable The hotels they booked were always well rated on trip advisor bar the hotel in Rathanborne it was okay where the others were all much nicer. We opted for 4 star accommodation We had pre-paid entry into all monuments and had also booked an elephant ride and a second jeep safari to get the chance to see the tigers which unfortunately we didn’t see but that is no one’s faultShow moreTrip date: October 2024
- EJEmma· October 20th, 2024This tour was amazing. The tour guides were so knowledgable. We learned and saw so much. Our driver was so friendly and helpful and really made our week more enjoyable. Our driver, Shripati was integral in making our trip so memorable. His laugh was infectious and we learned so much from him about the culture of India. We can’t wait to be back.Show moreVolunteering With India commented on this reviewThank you Emma for the review. It was such a wonderful time with you in the tour program. - Janine· May 25th, 2024All in all, we were very enthusiastic about the tour. The tour was very well organized and we really saw a lot in a short time. Our driver Wasim was excellent and drove us calmly and safely everywhere. The guides in each city were also friendly and helpful. Some monuments were skipped, either because there was no time or it was too hot (we had 48°C every day). All the hotels on the route (we opted for 5 stars) were very high quality. Our tour manager Sukret was always available and helpful via WhatsApp. Some points to consider: -The itinerary already included some entrance tickets, some guides don't know this so it sometimes happened that we accidentally paid twice. We always got it back immediately when we realized it, but it's best to always check the plan to see what is already included in the respective instead of what is not. - We were taken to stores in every single city to buy something. And I'm not talking about small souvenir stores but large purchases such as carpets or marble slabs worth several thousand euros (free shipping worlwide is offered) or (fake) jewelry and paintings worth several hundred euros. Some of the sellers in the stores are very pushy and don't want to let you leave without buying something. - Bring plenty of cash for tips (that everyone wants) and expect high tourist prices. We usually never paid less than 30€ for food for 2 people, entrance fees are always 8-10 times the local price and even when buying water at the rest stop they wanted to charge us 10 times as much All in all, it was still a great experience full of contrasts and we can highly recommend the tourShow moreVolunteering With India commented on this reviewThank you Janine for the review.Trip date: May 2024
- Sylvia· January 8th, 2024The tour was terrific and gave me a great taste of India in the short time that I had. As a solo female traveller I had been slightly concerned, but I felt completely safe the entire time. My driver, Wasim, was terrific and always willing to find a good chai or coffee place while we were on the road. The hotels they booked were always well rated on Travelocity and centrally located. The guides met me at each city, and special shout out to Vikram who patiently explainedShow moreVolunteering With India commented on this reviewThank you Sylvia for the review. - Lindsay· November 30th, 2023As a solo traveler, India was very confronting with the pollution, poor air quality, crowds and traffic, as well as beggars. Negatives: I found that the places I was taken to for meals were to established tourist places that heavily overcharge and I was paying up to twice as much for a meal than what I would in Australia, so my expected budget was exceeded substantially. The trip to Ranthambore NP I didn't get picked up for, but managed to have the motel assist with getting me on a tour an hour and a half later than expected which I was grateful for, however the I was the only person on that short game tour who spoke English, and we saw nothing of interest. We heard the call of a tiger but no visual sighting. I had the same driver throughout the tour with day guides at each stop. My driver had quite limited English but was such a brilliant driver and lovely person. I felt so sorry for him as he was not provided any accommodation throughout the trip and had to sleep in the car each night, so at the end of the tour, I made sure he was given a substantially thank you tip, again, probably double what I would have budgeted for. This tour is heavily subsidised on the provision of shopping stops that are not listed in the itinerary. We stopped at various textile shops, carpet places, etc to be enticed to spend money for which the guide, driver and/or company would get a kick back from. I would have rather spent that hour seeing more landscapes or historic sites. Positives: Apart from the one hiccup at Ranthambore NP, we were generally on time according to the provided schedule and managed to squeeze in so many stops in a short time. The rest of the sightseeing and commentary at each city was absolutely fascinating. The chosen guides were all very knowledgeable of the history and provided me with excellent information. Initial conversations with the travel company were well informed, and I got all the questions I had prior to leaving Australia answered in a timely and polite manner. The accommodation at each stop included breakfast and were satisfactory or better than expected. Overall experience: Dealing with Volunteering With India was very straight forward and easy, with excellent guides, driver and accommodation provided, and a lovely warm meet and greet at Delhi airport. Whilst the sightseeing was absolutely brilliant, it is dulled somewhat by the ambiance - pollution and crowding, and the shopping stops. Whatever you think would be suitable to budget for, expect to double it. I do really appreciate the experience I had on this journey although I would not be keen to do it again solo, it would have been less confronting doing it with your partner or with a small group of friends.Show moreVolunteering With India commented on this reviewThank you Lindsay for the review.Trip date: November 2023
- MNMinh· November 7th, 2023Overall good and affordable tour. One thing I wished was there would be an option to add another game drive in Ranthambore National Park in the afternoon/evening to increase the chance of spotting a tiger. Other than that, my tour was well organized and the driver was very accommodating to my requests. Thank you!Show moreVolunteering With India commented on this reviewThank you Minh for the review.
