I am in the midst of the most wonderful trip I have ever taken in my 50 + years of life and. We arrived into Rabat after a very long day from Portland Oregon to Chicago to Paris and finally Rabat. We were greeted by Abdul who took us to the wonderful Vllla Mandarine where we were able to get some badly needed rest. The next day, we met up w/a phenomenal local guide who has lived his entire life in Rabat. We saw the Roman Ruins, the King's Palace, a military training center, the final resting spot of a several kings, and an incredible neighborhood that splits Rabat from Sale. It was a remarkable tour. Once the 3 hour or so tour concluded, we traveled to Fes, a journey that took a little less than 3 hours. I am traveling w/my wife, our two kids, aged 20 and 16 and for more than 3 weeks so we have a lot of luggage. The vehicle is a perfect car for this journey. It comfortably seats all of us and our luggage and has great big windows so everyone can see. Fes was truly unbelievable. We stayed at the wonderful riad and had an excellent tour of a medina by a guide who was born and raised in the Medina. One needs such a guide as the medina has 9400 streets most of which dead end. From there, a long car trip to the Sahara Dunes which had many highlights but the camel ride at sunrise was particularly sublime. We stayed at a very nice Luxury camp property in Merzouga and had the place pretty much to ourselves. It literally sits on the Dunes' line and you can walk a few hundred yards to be amidst the dunes. Our trustworthy, honorable and thoroughly decent driver and the general manager of the company-which runs as many as 15 different, yet concurrent custom trips was born and raised in the desert and was therefore in a position to take us to see a wonderful community of local musicians that spanned 4 generations, and then off road to see a Nomad family in their "residence" where the family, who has nothing, offered us bread and olive oil and tea and watermelon and warm welcomes. Both were nothing short of life affirming experiences. Next up, the amazing village of Bourdain Dunes. Another stay at a Kasbah property, this one called Azawad that was terrifically situated w/an expansive view over the village and the very fertile valley that lies at the foot of the village. I am writing this from the truly amazing Riad which is over the top beautiful, w/phenomenal service. We will be here a night and then we have one night in a High Atlas moyntains and Marrakech and Atlantic Coast before we return to Rabat for our return flight to Paris. To this moment, EVERYTHING has been absolutely first rate. The accommodations, the meals, the guides, the entire itinerary, for which I thank Amanar has been a major reason for this wondeful organization tour,we realy wish to see him directly one day in the future. for. I would recommend Cultural Morocco tours and all very hard working people to friends and family alike. I would not hesitate to do another tour experience with them again, perhaps next year :).
