James· February 21st, 2025We have had a wonderful holiday in Sri Lanka. From amazing historical sites, tea plantations, to wonderful national parks and of course the beautiful Indian Ocean. We booked our trip with BH Lanka via Tour Radar. We customized our trip from a standard 14 day one to an 18 day package. The BH Lanka team were excellent with suggesting ways to extend the trip and we quickly settled on our itinerary. We were met at the airport by our driver who took us to our first hotel in Negombo. Next morning we were met by our guide Nishantha Kumara or Nish for short, who was to be with us for the whole trip. It became clear very quickly that Nish is very passionate about his country and takes great pride in passing on his knowledge of the history and culture of Sri Lanka. Having spent nearly 3 weeks with Nish I can honestly say he is a kind, helpful and considerate guide. He takes great care when driving, never taking any risks on the sometimes chaotic roads, he may be the most cautious driver in Sri Lanka! There has been great variety in the places we have visited on this trip, full days focused on historical and religious sites. Here Nish fill our heads with stories and legends as well as descriptions of when and how the culture developed over the centuries. We’ve really enjoyed jeep safari trips where we saw leopards (2), elephants (too many to count), crocodiles, other mammals and a great variety of bird life. One highlight was an optional extra which was an early morning balloon flight. Really wonderful drifting on a gentle breeze above the treetops just after sunrise. Another was a whale-spotting boat trip near Marissa where we saw numerous dolphins close up, turtles & a whale-shark. The sperm whale unfortunately remained elusive despite the crew patiently extending the trip & we only got to see it “spout” a fair distance away. The last few days of the trip were spent relaxing at beach resorts where we could just chill out listening to the sound of the waves from the Indian Ocean. All in all a lovely holiday that combined a bit of everything from an island that offers a lot of options.Show more

Had organised a private tour of Sri Lanka with 4 couples (all friends) for 10 days. Had our own private van with driver and guide. Can’t speak highly enough of our guide Buddhika and our driver Chandana. We were always made to feel like VIPs. We were able to tailor the itinerary to our interests and we had total flexibility about what we did and where we went. Buddhika was very knowledgeable and taught us heaps about the country including history, culture, food etc. We were lucky to experience local foods and drinks. The hotels were great. Chandana was an excellent driver and his van was always spotless. Would recommend using BH Lanka tours if you are wanting to visit Sri Lanka. It was a great two weeks jammed packed with activiies from game drives in National Parks, to treking to the Worlds End, seeing beautiful waterfalls, riding a train through the tea county and dipping in the Indian Ocean.
