Our desert tour from Marrakech to Fes was a splendorous getaway. Skilled drivers ensured a smooth ride, and the accommodations were truly luxurious. Culinary experiences were delightful, although roadside dining was a bit on the expensive side. The meticulous organization throughout the journey made it a remarkable experience.

An oasis of luxury in the desert, this journey from Marrakech to Fes was well-crafted. The drivers were not just skilled but also shared interesting anecdotes. Accommodations were superb, and the food was a culinary delight. Though roadside restaurants were a bit expensive, the overall organization made the entire experience hassle-free.

The tour from Marrakech to Fes, with a focus on the Merzouga desert, exceeded expectations. Our drivers were fantastic, providing both safety and interesting insights. Accommodations were a highlight, especially the luxury tent under the stars. While roadside dining was a bit pricey which is normal as a touristic area and located in a very far place where nit easy certainly to bring the food and supplies to, the overall organization made it a seamless and memorable experience. Thanks to Mehdi for high quality communication, before, during and after the tour's end.

Our two drivers were very nice and engaging and always gave us interesting information about the places we passed through. Our stop in Aït-Ben-Haddou was nice, but we don't think a guide would have been necessary here. Our hotel on the first day was fine. On the second day, the morning program was a bit disappointing. Our guide was very nice, but we spent a lot of time in a carpet store, so we only had ten minutes at most for the canyon, the real highlight. We were then shooed onto the bus to have an hour-long lunch break in an overpriced tourist restaurant a hundred meters away. We thought that was a shame. But the desert was a real highlight. The private camel ride at sunset was breathtaking. Our guide was very friendly and gave us enough time to enjoy the scenery and the sunset. Our camp was also simply amazing! The buffet was incredibly tasty and the tents were were spacious and very comfortable. The next morning was absolutely beautiful as well as we were able to admire the sunrise over the dunes. A truly unique and incredible experience! I can't emphasize enough how great the experience in the desert was. All in all, the desert was simply amazing and we loved every second of it, but the rest of the program was a bit disappointing, partly because everything seemed very rushed.

TLDR: Great tour, though touristy and with less of a choice of activities/lunches than we'd like. We enjoyed this tour. We loved the accommodation and dinners on both days - a lovely hotel in Dades with beautiful terrace views, delicious food, and music with the owners on the first night, and a great experience in the desert with a campfire and music on the second night - though the wind on the second night shaking the tent woke me up! The drive was great too - plenty of stops for views and toilet breaks and information from our driver on places of interest. This was particularly the case with our driver Khalid on the way to the desert. Of the activities over the three days, everything was very tourist-heavy - expect to see hundreds of other tourists everywhere you go. We also felt the guides weren't needed generally - our guide at Ait Ben Haddou did not add much information and some of the information he gave was contradicted by our guide on the second day. We also did not feel we had much choice but follow them first to a scarf shop and then to the overpriced tourist lunch spot as we would not otherwise have known where we would meet up with our bus afterwards. We were most disappointed on the second day, where we spent the morning wondering around a random town while the guide gave us information on Moroccan culture that seemed pretty unrelated to the town we were walking around. For the entire time we were in this town we were also being confronted by children for money also. The guide told us we would finish the tour by visiting a traditional Berber household then actually took us to a carpet shop - we weren't surprised by this though as all guides in Morocco seem to include a trip to some shop or other. We then went to the Todra gorge for literally only 10 minutes - I would have much preferred skipping the entire trip to the town and instead gone for a walk up and down the gorge. We then went to a lunch spot in the middle of nowhere, meaning we had absolutely no choice of lunch spot. The food was again overpriced but this time also flavourless. The rest of the day was great; a lovely sunset camel ride and some sandboarding down sand dunes. The camel are not comfortable, but they are a fun experience. We got a camel ride back at sunrise the next day - unfortunately this was in a sand storm! We then drove up to Fes, stopping to look at fossils, feed monkeys, and visit Ifrane. Our only other issue with the trip was the overall lack of communication. We had very little idea of what was going on most of the time. On the first night, my partner and I were dropped off at a different hotel to the 16 other people in our bus, which was initially a bit disappointing as it meant we wouldn't get to socialise with other people in the evening, but then we really lucked out on the accommodation. The next day, we were again separately dropped off in a car park outside the desert with no idea who would 'claim' us and when, nor what the plan was following the camel ride (e.g. when and where we'd get picked up in the morning). We were eventually ushered to join a different group for the camel ride and we stayed in the same desert camp as them also. At the desert camp, we were frequently asked what group we were with and whether we were doing the sunrise camel ride, to which we had to say we had no idea. The group we had joined were also going to Fes the next day, however post-camel ride, instead of going with them, we were left in the middle of nowhere (different to where we were dropped off) with no means of contacting our original driver to checked we hadn't been abandoned. We were eventually picked up by our original group, who seemed to have had the exact same desert experience as us but in a different places for some reason. However, our original group were all going back to Marrakesh so we were then transferred into a large taxi for the trip to Fes with new people again. I assume that no one else had booked this tour at the same time as us, hence why we were passed around so much, but I would have liked a bit more of an explanation early on of when we were going to be doing something different. Ideally, it would have been nice to have stayed with the same group for the whole experience so we had the chance to actually get to know the people we were with. Overall though, the experience was so unforgettable and worth the unwanted activities and stress of limited communication for the drive, desert experience and accommodation!
