Enzo was a good guide, walked at just the right pace to keep up with easily. Informative, professional but still friendly. The Cathedral at Palermo was a huge highlight of my trip. Accommodation was very good Palermo Mercure was very central, Catania hotel was older and TV hairdryer never worked even though the serviceman looked at TV that hotel needs to get there act together. Dawn· April 27th, 2023I appreciated the flexibility of joining the tour for a short period. My schedule did not allow for the full 10 day tour that some group members were doing so being able to join for the 5 day mini tour was great. The tour packs a lot in, it was well organized and the guides were good. I am usually an independent traveler, this was my first tour. I enjoyed the knowledgeable guides and the ease of the experience. My only concern was my room in Palermo was quite small and had a "view" of the hotel storage room, a nicer room would have been appreciated. The beekeeping company visit and honey tasting near Etna was a bit underwhelming and I would have gladly traded that for more free time in Etna or Taormina. Hotels were comfortable and clean and the food that was provided was a mix of individually-served plates and shared plates. The first meal was a hotel dinner that was not great, but the dinners improved as we had the next two in local restaurants (I don't think they should be described as "famous"). One thing that is not necessarily the fault of the tour organizer due to the fact that we are past any mandated mask-wearing at this point but impacted our experience is the behaviour of some people in the tour group. I'm pretty sure I'm coming down with COVID now because of the fact that some members had nasty coughs and did not practice safe hygiene (it's been 2.5 years of this now - c'mon folks, wear a mask and cough into your elbow). It's just something that is going to happen with a large tour group. We took that chance and now we have to deal with it. A few inaccuracies - It is advertised as a 5-day tour but it is really a 4-night stay and only 3 days of activities. The first night is just a meeting for dinner and last day is breakfast on your own. Dinners in Catania were great- dinners in Palermo were average at best, typical for an included dinner on a tour but disappointing for Italian cuisine.
