- DFDave· October 30th, 2023I recently embarked on a 10-day tour to Japan, and while there were certainly highlights, I've settled on a 3-star rating for this experience. Firstly, the positives: the group I was with was fantastic, and our tour guide Johnson was nothing short of phenomenal. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and overall demeanor added so much value to our journey. Additionally, the hotels we stayed in were top-notch, providing comfortable and luxurious resting spots throughout our trip. However, there were aspects of the tour that left much to be desired. Of the 10 days, only 3 were filled with planned tours and activities, which seemed a bit sparse considering the hefty price tag of the trip. Another 3 days offered optional tours, but these required an additional fee on the day of the activity. After having already invested a significant amount of money into this trip, this aspect was quite disappointing.The remaining 4 days in Tokyo were allocated as free time. While this flexibility might be appealing to some, I believe that when you sign up and pay for a tour, the majority of activities should be included in the initial cost, with perhaps 1 or 2 optional activities, not the majority of the tour! This tour might be suitable for first-time visitors to Japan, particularly if you are traveling with a large group, have extra money to spend, and prefer not to navigate the local subway system on your own. However, on the days with optional tours, I found that I was able to do the same tours on my own for a fraction of the price, which is something future travelers might want to consider. In conclusion, while there were definite highlights and positives to this tour, the structure and additional costs left a bit to be desired. I would recommend this tour with reservations and suggest that potential travelers weigh the pros and cons carefully before making a decision.Show more
