- Sue· May 30th, 2022This trip was very good value for money as there was so much included. The tours were interesting and informative and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable. The hotels were basic but they were clean and well situated and the breakfasts were substantial. Most of the trip ran smoothly but I did have problems in Cappadoccia. My driver turned up late in Istanbul to take me to the airport and I had to chase it with Ala Turka. I was told that they delay was due to heavy traffic but when the driver turned up 45mins late he admitted he had forgotten he was supposed to pick me up. He also had instructions to take me to the wrong airport. Luckily we realised in time and the traffic wasn't too bad so I did get to the airport on time. I was met and taken to my hostel in Cappadoccia but when I got there the hostel said they didn't have a booking for me. On checking it appears that the booking had been wrongly made for April! Luckily they weren't full so I was able to stay there. In the evening I had booked the Turkish night. I was picked up as arranged and the driver said he was staying to the event and would be taking me back to the hostel afterwards, but when I went outside at the end he wasn't there and neither was his car. I went back in the restaurant and they arranged a taxi for me free of charge, said they would bill Ala Turka. When I complained next day to Ala Turka they told me the car had broken down and they had arranged the taxi, but that clearly wasn't true. I hadn't been given my transfer information for my onward flight to Izmir and I had to keep chasing that and finally got the info the night before that I was being taken directly to the airport after the end of my day tour. I was very anxious that I might not get there in time as the tour guide was late picking me up and starting the tour, and in order to get there in time I had to miss the end of the tour. By this time I was just relieved to get to the airport on time and after that everything went according to plan. As a single traveller I wouldn't have wanted to do this trip completely alone so it was nice to meet up with other travellers on the trips, many of whom were also single. Overall I enjoyed the trip and the good outweighed the bad, but to get a 5 Ala Turka need to do better in CappadocciaShow moreTrip date: May 2022
