breakfasts at hotels included were good. Lunches and dinners were not included however the guide offered to handle arranging the lunch meals for 70 euros per person, which everyone agreed to. The guide arranged one picnic lunch prepared by the guide and driver. Two smorgasboards prepared by local vendors, two prearanged meals in restaurants. The meals had good variety and were good, however there was no accounting done to determine if the guide used all of the money or more. He also paid for a couple of coffee/snack stops. The guide tried to arrange all the evening venues as well, and did not offer any other suggestions when asked. If a tour is advertised as no dinners included, I would expect to make my own decision as to where I would eat and would also expect the guide to make severals suggestions of local restaurants in the area.

the trip should have been excellent but our guide was very poor. in fact it turned out we did not have a guide - the fellow who was leading the trip said he was the one who worked out fo the office organizing itineraries hotel restaurants etc.. The safety on this trip was none existent the guide unhelpful.

We would like to thank Jane for her feedback, although we sincerely regret that this trip did not live up to expectations and that she was so disappointed with her tour leader, Alex. At Exodus we take great pride in our tour leaders and Alex has been... Show more

Great ride, pedaling along the beach and through forests, many miles of which are bicycle path and board walk. The bicycle provided were perfect, lightweight, front suspension MTBs with provided large capacity handlebar bag. The ride was not overly taxing, although hillier as the days went on. The cafe stops were delightful. Historic and natural beauty surrounded us. Hotels and buffet breakfasts were perfect. The guide Alex a Portugal native was superb, corralling us as needed for safety, espousing on history, geography and such. We had a friendly group and a lovely time. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the tour route for the most part, especially the parts that went through small villages and green areas. The forest parts were a bit dull but still nice riding. All or our guides were excellent. Our lunches were prepared with care, but I would comment that the lunch supplement was a bit expensive and we didn't think so much food was required for this meal. The accommodation was great and interesting. The towns we stopped in were great for exploring and we sometimes wished we had more time for this. Overall this is a great cycling trip and it was very enjoyable

Portugal is a jewel.... Biking the Atlantic Coast from Porto to Lisbon was the perfect manner to get a feel for the country. Seafood was outstanding. The guides advised us to eat at wonderful restaurants along the coast. Would have liked more time in Nazare to visit the beaches. Also, the ability to carry only two people at a time in the "sag wagon" was a big drawback.

I would recommend this tour to anyone. While the biking was a challenge at times (more hills, more technical riding than I had anticipated), the scenery was amazing and the group dynamic could not have been better. People and the guide supported you no matter what--if you climbed up a hill, walked your bike or rode in the van, you had the freedom and support to do what was best for you. It was very well organized during the rides, and we had some freedom to either be with the whole group, with a smaller group or by ourselves in the evenings and that flexible approach to downtime was appreciated. Our guides Marco and Joan were the best; they clearly love their jobs and their country and were eager to share its history and culture with us. Their warmth and sense of humor are things I will remember fondly from the trip. People on the tour were a mix of friends traveling together, couples, and people who came alone. Toughest part of the trip was saying good-bye to them but I look forward to exploring other parts of the world with this tour group.
