Fantastic experience with a fantastic guide!

I joined the Northern Thailand: Hilltribes & Villages on July 15, 2024. I truly had the most fantastic experience and created the most wonderful memories. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe. A huge heartfelt thank you to my guide Tew who was a friend to me for the duration of the week. Sharing all his knowledge, insight, kindness and taking the time to make my experience a great one! Thank you Tew! The trip brought me out of my comfort zone in the best possible ways. The scenery and views from the hiking journey was spectacular! I am so grateful I can say I have travelled to Thailand and grateful to of joined this tour specifically. This tour has given me the confidence and motivation to join another one in the future! From my experience on the Northern Thailand: Hilltribes & Villages, I look forward to returning to Thailand!

Whilst the tour was as per itinerary I mistakenly thought that I was fit enough to complete the trekking, so I had to cut it short. The change to the original plan was well managed by the tour guide as well as the help required during the trekking. The experience of getting to know the life of the Karen tribes in the jungle was fantastic, however I mistakenly thought I could meet some of the long neck people in these Karen villages. Important to note that this was not part of this tour.

Scotty was an incredible tour guide. He is extremely knowledgable and attentive to everyone on the tour. I really felt like we were one big family. He made things really fun and always brought so much energy to every day. My favourite activities were the home stay at the Karan village, the water falls at Erawan national park and experiencing all the beautiful nature and jungle thailand has to offer. My one improvement would be less back and forth to Chiang Mai if possible. I could have spent longer in Pai I’ll just have to go back solo!

I had a fantastic time on this tour. I really enjoyed all of the activities and Scotty made everything really easy and stress free. We actually had a problem at the beginning because my partner and I weren’t roomed together even though we booked together which Scotty sorted straight away. I was also unwell at the beginning of the tour so we joined late but we weren’t made to feel like this was an issue and Scotty actually arranged for me to go to the doctors which was really helpful.

Tour was excellent. Guide and driver were very professional. We had a wonderful time fulfilling the trip of a lifetime.

Great all around. Chai was a superb guide. However, you need to book in first class cabin for the sleeper train back to Bkk.

Most days were wonderful. Many great experiences and comfortable accommodations, but some differences between itinerary information and expectations. Particularly for a group of 50 - 80 year olds, some things were not made clear. The biggest complaint was the 2nd class sleeper car. It only says sleeper train, which given other accommodations, one would expect 1st class sleeping compartments. I even enquired before booking and was told a private compartment with my single supplement. One does have to read the category of this trip as well. It is an Explorer trip, so some things were slightly more strenuous. Given that, the guide, Chai was wonderful about making adjustments for some travelers. There is no mention of biking at Sukothai in the itinerary, so he arranged a tuk tuk for some of us. Some hotels were changed and in less convenient locations. The creatively written itinerary really draws you in to book and get excited but some crucial information, particularly for older travelers, is missing.

Excellent tour. Packed with exciting places to see and experience. Our guide Sunny was excellent. He was very attentive to our needs and took great care of us. His lunch stops were top notch with some out of the way places but with excellent food and service. If you take this tour make sure Sunny is your guide. The temples and pagodas we saw were very interesting and the variety of Buddha statues was astonishing, not to mention their sizes and composite materials. One of the most interesting things I saw was Buddha's head entangled in strangler fig roots, which must have taken hundreds of years to grow around the head. Highly recommended

I want to start by saying that I loved Thailand, and the itinerary for the Fantastic Thailand Tour was perfect. We covered a lot of ground in just 8 days and saw many of the key attractions that Thailand has to offer. The tour guides were fantastic for the most part—friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. Several of them even took us to additional places that weren’t on the itinerary but that we expressed interest in, which we really appreciated and know they didn't have to do that. However, there were some negatives regarding the hotels. Two of the three hotels we stayed in were quite disappointing. I chose the 3-star option after researching all three categories (3-star, 4-star, and 5-star), and honestly, they didn’t seem that different online. This may partly be my fault for not upgrading. One hotel was so bad that I completely ditched it and booked another place. It was gross! The second hotel was bearable but still pretty bad; and it was in a terrible location in Phuket—up on a hill with nothing around, including no restaurants. When I arrived at the hotel in Chiang Mai (the really bad hotel) and realized I couldn’t stay there, I complained to the tour operator, but they weren’t very helpful or accommodating in finding a new hotel. Additionally, after much prodding, they finally refunded me what was probably one night’s worth ($55), even though we were there for three nights. At that point, I didn’t care about the refund; I just wanted to get out of there! I also didn’t love that we had to book our own internal flights; I feel like that should be handled by the tour operator. However, it worked out fine in the end. Overall, despite the hotel issues, I truly enjoyed my experience on the Fantastic Thailand Tour and would recommend it for its engaging itinerary and excellent guides.

The tour covers the areas of highest interest in Thailand. Some locations are very touristy so be ready for large crowds. Also,this is not an “escorted tour “ so you will not have on tour guide throughout and you will not be staying with or seeing the same people each day. Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai were great, but it is a very long tour day to drive to Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle from Chiang Mai in one day. The boat trip to the Phi Phi Islands is also a very long day and the speed boats are very full.

The tour was a complete success, the organization was flawless and our two guides were competent and helpful. The bad weather (rain) in the second half was just bad luck.

This was truly a fantastic experience! It felt like we explored the entire essence of Thailand. From visiting stunning temples in Bangkok and experiencing local life at a coconut farm and floating market, to being blessed by monks in Chiang Mai’s temple, interacting with elephants, and swimming with fish in the crystal-clear waters of Phi Phi Island—it was unforgettable. We were well taken care of from the moment we arrived, and we are deeply thankful for our wonderful and knowledgeable guides. A special thanks to Ms. Pond, our guide in Bangkok, whose friendly personality and deep knowledge of culture and history made our time in the city both exciting and memorable. Thank you to the entire team for organising such an incredible trip!

Interesting and well organized tour. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly (especially Dare, our guide in Chiang Mai did a really good job). A highlight were the elephants and pig island. I was a bit annoyed by the unexpected stop at the gem factory after the floating market and the information around the connecting flights, but maybe that is just how things work in Thailand.

Very well selected hotels; some even provided free upgrades. Extremely punctual transfers; the drivers were usually there 10-15 minutes before the agreed time. The German-speaking guides had room for improvement in terms of fluency, but were very engaging and knew the best times to visit and the best places (e.g. for sunset photos), and were able to give very good food recommendations.

Smooth airport transfers, good guides and great local experiences made it a enjoyable tour. Could have done with an extra night in Chiang Mai.

While I am a bit late submitting this review, I can honestly say that this was one of my best experiences as a traveler. Andy was such an amazing human being and guide. He ensured that we had the best experience as he was very knowledgeable, extremely patient, and had a great sense of humor. As I plan my vacation this year, I will only book with tour radar, and I hope to have another great vacation! Happy New Year!!

A really great trip, very well organized and with a great tour guide.

Our VIP organizer and assistant was wonderful. They were very communicative, and answered all the questions that we had throughout the trip. And we had a lot of questions. They were very good at coordinating our personally booked hotels before and after as well, and it was a, seamless transition from one to the other.

I just got back from the “Marvelous Thailand In 10 Days” private tour, and I have to say, it was incredible From start to finish, everything was so well planned. Our guide was super friendly and shared tons of interesting stories about the places we visited. I loved exploring the bustling streets of Bangkok and then relaxing on the beautiful beaches in Phuket. Each day felt like a new adventure.
