Didn’t get the five stars for the few hiccups along the way which could have been handled better. 1) We were put on a cruise with non English speaking tour grp. Which meant there was a lack of communication with order of itinerary and lousy excuses when we were unable to do activities included in our package. Very disappointing! When I texted rep at Legends only response….radio silence till we saw him the next day. Only to hear more excuses! 2) Hotel in Ho Chi Min City was very old, musty and had mold and mildew. Carpets were stained and smelt awful. We did change rooms….which was only slightly better. When I texted rep from Legends only response was ‘sorry you are disappointed with the room’ it wasn’t the response I was looking for! When I asked to be shown the room selection for us on the hotel website the reception at hotel couldn’t even find the category room we should have had! The guides in Hue and Siam Reap were excellent not enough words to describe the brilliant service provided. I think Legend Tours needs to learn a thing or two from the guides and drivers they have hired in Siam Reap considering customer service.Show more

Some of the days were very long i.e. it appeared that too much sightseeing/tours were cramped into the tours especially on days with internal flights. We have the following comments about the hotels allocated. Authentic Hanoi Hotel: room was disappointing as no view out of window. Lantana Riverside Hotel: very good hotel. White Lotus Hotel good hotel. Ramada Encore Hotel good hotel. - CWColleen· November 4th, 2024Hotel in Hanoi was substandard and would not recommend it. The hotel in Hoi A was above average. The rest were average. Danny the tour coordinator was very helpful and answered all the questions that we asked. Some of the tour guides were hard to understand, their grasp of the English language was not that great. The flights with Veit Air was poor to say the least and we think that the price we paid was more than it should have been. Overall the trip was not up to the standard that we expected. - Barb· October 2nd, 2024My husband and I took this tour in September and overall, we enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we arrived the day before Typoon Yagi struck so we missed out on experiencing things like Train St and Halong Bay. We found the communication from Legend Tours to be poor at this stage. As Westerners, we like people to be upfront and honest about what is going on but this is not what we experienced. When the typhoon struck, we should have been taken care of, instead we had to go out in the wind and rain to find something to eat. It is not like the typhoon wasn't expected. We had to suggest we go somewhere else after finding out Halong Bay was closed. We enjoyed where we were taken, but, the next day, had to insist we leave early as the weather was so bad. On the whole the guides were good, although some spoke too quickly. One thing I found annoying, was the guide would start talking before everyone was there to listen. This impacted on my experience as I don't have great mobility so I would take longer to get places. Our favourite guides were our Hoi An and Siem Reap ones. Our driver in Soem Reap was amazing, handing out ice cold cloths. Our least favourite guide was on our first day in Ho Chi Minh city, as he was rude. The hotels were a bit hit and miss. The hotel in Hoi An was lovely, but all hotels had very hard mattresses. Some hotels didn't have face cloths so not sure how a person was meant to wash their body. Breakfasts were, overall, disappointing. Nearly every lunch was wonderful and a highlight, especially in Siem Reap. I think it is essential to make it clear if tipping the guides and drivers is required. Where we live, there is no tipping, and is only done if a person feels they have been given exceptional service. We thought we had paid for our guides when we paid cash in Hanoi. It was embarrassing to see Americans tip in front of us. Their dollar is a lot stronger than ours and tipping is a way of life for them. The oganising of all internal flights and all transfers went smoothly, which was appreciated by us. Drivers and guides always turned up on time which was very impressive.
