- Imelda Abes· November 10th, 2024Very organised. Thor made sure we were comfortable. Barbara was a great driver. Felt safe enough to sleep through all the trips. I don't sleep well if somebody else is driving on the road.GJ Travel commented on this reviewThank you so much for this review. We are delighted to hear that you were happy with the tour! - MBMaría· October 24th, 2024Excellent agency GJ Travel. The impeccable hotels and the best of all was the local guide. All within the times and very organized. However, I consider it important to take into account if there are people who do not speak English, to have the option of some team that allows translation or explanation in the person's language. In my case, I traveled with my mom who doesn't speak English and it was complicated for her. And give more time at the souvenir shop stop. Otherwise, everything is fabulous. I recommend it, with the guide Margaret, an incredible womanShow moreGJ Travel commented on this reviewThank you so much for this review. We are delighted to hear that you were happy with the tour! - MGMichelle· April 4th, 2024The trip was fantastic! Holme was extremely knowledgeable and fun. She set a great tone for the trip and made it even more enjoyable. She clearly went above and beyond in her flexibility when unexpected things happened. Her stories were lovely and a welcome insight into Icelandic culture.Show moreGJ Travel commented on this reviewThank you so much for this review. - George· March 25th, 2024This was my first touring vacation and will most likely be my last. The tour experience was fun, but not the best. The various sights on the tour were spot on per the tour description and the hotel accommodations were wonderful. The issue that I had on the tour was the unpreparedness of the guide. He never went over the itinerary, nor did he explain what we would be seeing or how we should dress or what type of shoes we should wear based on weather conditions. He had a ton of wonderful personal stories that he told during the tour, but I wished he provided more background information regarding sights we were seeing and historical information regarding the country. Later in the week during the tour, we had an option to do an extra excursion (ice cave tour) that was an extra cost. The cost was fine, but we were told the excursion would be 2 hours. The excursion company told us, 3.5 hours. We told the guide what the company told us and he promised it would only be 2 hours. Well that wasn't the case, it was 3.5 hours. So because of that, we didn't get to see a sight and on our way back from the excursion we were met in the middle of a two lane highway by the bus driver and guide where both parties had to stop on the highway...which was completely unsafe. When we got back on the touring bus, those that didn't go on the ice cave tour told us the driver and the guide were arguing because the driver was supposed to clock out at 5:30. Since the excursion went over, it was causing him to go past 5:30. There was a few other incidents that happened with the group that didn't do the ice cave tour that caused some to be upset. Like I said, the tour was fun, but didn't really like the bouncing from one hotel to the next.Show moreGJ Travel commented on this reviewWe want to thank you for the feedback on the tour. We are sorry to hear that the time given from our guide regarding the ice cave tour was not correct, we though do hope that you enjoyed the excursion. We hope that you enjoyed the sights and our... - Adrienne· March 24th, 2024The guide, while friendly and upbeat, didn't seem to have any idea how to organize a group or communicate what was coming up on the trip. Maybe he was just new or hadn't been trained well, but we had to ask several times about what was happening the next day, if we were checking out of our hotel, etc. He would wait until all passengers were off the bus at a stop to give directions about timing, etc. which wasted a lot of valuable time at the stops. Then sometimes we would be rushed through one activity only to end up having to wait at the next stop while he.killed time with endless family stories. Would have liked to hear more about the geography, geology, history of the places we went. To top it all off, I forgot my backpack which had all my medication in it at the last stop. My fault, but we told him 15 minutes into the bus ride. He kept telling us another guide behind us could pick it up and bring it, not to worry. Then about 2 1/2 hours into the drive he says the next group is at least a day behind us and gave us an option of a $1500.00 cab fare to have a taxi drive it to Reykjavik. We insisted he drop us at a car rental location instead to drive back and get it ourselves, which made us miss the Lagoon stop and had us getting into Reykjavik over the pass just when a snowstorm hit. It could have ended tragically. Manu people were having accidents. He had told us the weather looked good and we should be fine. After all this, people told us he had just killed time driving around Reykjavik for an hour waiting for the Lagoon time anyway. Turning around 15 minutes into the trip would not have affected anyone's day at all! I would not recommend this tour group as they do not take care of their passengers very well at all. The sights were amazing though. We will always have those memories. But would never use this company again.Show moreGJ Travel commented on this reviewWe want to thank you for the feedback on the tour.
